I also agree about Gandolfo's. They really pile on the meat and all the trimmings are fresh. The Corned Beef and the Pastrami are first class. They also have salads and soups. The bread there is excellent.

I remember "The Stage Deli" in New York as the one I frequented. Near Radio City Music Hall.

The sandwiches were hugh with a great variety. Could hardly get my mouth over it, as there was a lot of meat.

Instead of trying to find a great corned beef or pastrami sandwich for a New Yorker, I would suggest taking him over to The River House in Crystal River for some soft shell crabs or fried shrimp. A New Yorker is not going to be impressed by a pastrami sandwich here but fresh local food that is done up right is going to impress him.

Katz's deli on Houston street for pastrami or corned beef sandwich. For hot dogs and knishes my favorites are still Nathans in Coney Island and Shatzkins Knishes (not there anymore) a few doors down. All washed down with a Dr. Browns Black Cherry Soda!!! Oh yeah...my grandmothers house on Kissena Blvd in Brooklyn for Matzoh Ball soup and Perogan and Kugle!!

Mmmm Matzoh Ball soup sounds good right now on a snowy Chicago night. :icon_hungry:

So in keeping with the TOTV tradition, let's change this thread from the original request for a good local deli.

Where is your favorite deli?

Junior's in Los Angeles for me.

Why can't we for once, break with the TOTV tradition, and stick with the thread as posted. If you want a NEW thread, start one
