Damn! There goes my Coffee Cake Muffin. They say ignorance is bliss. I'm no longer ignorant and therefore no longer blissful - at least as it relates to that muffin. Another recipe I'm going to have to look up and try to make myself. Anyway, thank you for the info.

Default $600

Bay Kid,

Employees aren't making $600 more than what they made when they were working.

Max benefit in Florida is $275 a week or 50% of salary whichever is less. Feds add $600 to that amount.

If someone made $1,000 they get $275 + 600 = $875,
If some made $500 a week they get $250 + $600 = $850.
That's nuts. And yes it's coming from our taxes. Thank goodness at least it's taxable.
But unemployment is not subject to social security or medicare so we lose on that side too.

My clients are having trouble getting people to come back to work who are on unemployment but it they don't come back when offered a job the employer can report them and benefits will stop (theoritically)

The circumstances described by the OP is why some employees will never move up from their entry level job.

I can't believe they are allowed to operate in that manner - and the manager to have such an attitude?? UGH! I'm still up in Long Island (hope to get to our Fenney home in the Fall) and my local Dunkins all have very courteous employees who wear masks and gloves and give great service. I was expecting the same in The Villages. How is the Dunkin at Brownwood. I've been there in the past and thought it was okay.

So very true. Some people do not understand that the employees best friends are profits.

One would think that the company itself would send around inspectors to see how their franchisees operate. What we see here will cause other franchises to lose business

I quit going to DD a long time ago. I wasn't happy when Starbucks was run off by the developer. The Starbucks regular customers where of a classier type and the morning conversation was geared toward fun topics. DD seems to attract a more aggressive, negative, politically driven customer with a one sided mentality, which seems to be their idea of fun. Not what I'm looking for in my retirement.

The unemployment money may be taxable, but the $600 from Uncle Sam is tax free.
The employee at DD isn't a manager, but is the person in charge of that shift. And probably the only employee on that shift.
I understand her dousing and saving the rest of the cigarette for her next break, as they make peanuts for an income, and smokes are really expensive. Did you ever look at the "tip cup" on the counter there? Usually empty or just a bit of change in it.

Never understood that tip cup. All they do is pour off a up of coffee and grab a donut. Not something that deserves a tip IMHO.

I haven't gone in Dunkin Donuts on 441 since they gave me a bag of donuts that had bugs in the bag! I'll never go back there. Gross.
