Stopped by after golf. We have eaten there multiple times, food, service, has always been excellent. This trip was pot roast, tender, flavorful, more than I could eat. The fried haddock was the special, batter was very thin and crispy. The homemade chips that come to the table when you sit down can be addictive.

This visit we happened upon happy hour. Not our usual time, but we had just finished golf. The noise level was more than you could imagine. Watched 6 tables leave before ordering. Will not go during happy hour again.

Our waiter apologized every time he came to the table.

I felt bad for the wait staff losing customers, and did see a dine and dash by 3 older women. I felt so bad for the waitress, we gave her a tip even though not our server. Not the first time we have been in a restaurant for a dine and dash

That was a kind thing to do. It just amazes me that none of the restaurants here even the ones they continue to build are equipped with any form of soundproofing. Is that something that is unheard of down here?

I'm convinced its not a soundproofing issue, but hard of hearing people trying to out talk one another.

But if you look at the construction of the buildings there are no soft surfaces. Hard floors, hard walls, hard ceilings nothing to absorb sound. The new Hacienda Hills remodel is the worst. The sound just reverberates.

We had a restaurant up north that we liked but the sound level was way up there...to lessen the noise they hung 2' X 3' squares of sound absorbing material from the ceiling and it did help.....

Ricciardi's Italian Table in Brownwood had a sound problem for a while after they opened. We went to a party in the back room and we couldn't talk to the person sitting next to us for the noise. They put in a bunch of cloth panels on the wall and ceiling and it is now great in the room. Went to a birthday party there recently and it was great.

I found the Metro Diner on 466 in front of Walmart so bad we never went back. Odd, that when it was Perkins, it was the complete opposite, almost too quiet. That's what happens when they remove the carpet. One place that we still go and is noisy is Fiesta Grande at Colony. Only if you go for lunch on Friday or Saturday is the problem, so we go for lunch Monday through Thursday.

You're right about Fiesta Grande. The Friday night noise can be deafening there.

Why some people in TV insist upon traveling in great herds to the feeding grounds, I will never understand.

Nobody can have a conversation.

Nobody in the whole place can have a conversation.

Not the people at the big long tables.

Not the people in the room with them, at smaller tables.

Many of those big long tables have at least one shrieker and a couple of howlers.

Sometimes, I think a junior high cafeteria could offer better ambiance than a crowded restaurant in TV.

But, I guess intolerable noise turns those tables faster.

Timing can help.

Restaurants should be arranged so that the large tables are not anywhere near the small tables. And, the restaurant should not move tables together to accomodate a large group. I will refuse to sit at a small table next to a large table with 8 or more people. Too noisy!

Sadly these were about 40 people around the bar, too young to have a hearing problem. Drinks half off, and those who had way too much to drink was the reason.
