Well you do have the people who are mad because they had the nerve to criticize a restaurant.

Love the Flying Biscuit! Favorite place and great food and service!

(Was cold by the time meal arrived) then the meal.....all eggs were ordered over easy - came out cold & broken. Bacon was a joke - cooked to death, shattered when touched. Also cold. Steak was so tough, could hardly cut it with a knife - eating it was not happening! So tough! Potatoes were overcooked & cold. Grits were Luke warm at best. Can't believe a restaurant can charge the prices they do & serve food so horrible! Worst in the Villages! Save yourself the time, money & grief....go somewhere else!

I don’t eat breakfast, so I’ve never been to a breakfast place here. In several of P.G. Wodehouse’s stories and novels about Jeeves and Wooster there are references to “The Drones Club,” where the unneeded younger sons of nobility (who are expected not to breed) go for fun. They throw buns at each other. I’m not sure why that is fun, or tasty. Did you see any flying biscuits at The Flying Biscuit, or was that also a disappointment? I’m imagining the biscuits flying around like little drones. (Not the younger sons of earls sort of drones.)

I like expensive restaurants for dinner. I rarely eat breakfast, but when I do, I would rather go to McDonald's. To me, the food is just as good as the expensive places, the service is better and faster with no expected tipping, you can sit where ever you want, they will bring the food to your table, refill your coffee, and the overall cost is less than 25 percent of most other places. And, the coffee is good and the eggs are real.

PersonOfInterest 04-29-2022 08:56 AM

I find most restaurants in and around the Villages to be mediocre at best and priced well above where it should be. Even when I find a restaurant that may rise above the usual its not consistent and the next trip usually finds the usual or worse. Maybe the pop tart and Mountain Dew is the way to go, but I'd just like a well cooked meal that arrives at the table while it is still warm enough to enjoy.

I agree I like expensive restaurants at night but don’t make breakfast a big deal , I have 100% liquid eggs in the morning with dry wheat toast , coffee and banana, I do go to Darrell’s once a week after acupuncture, I get 3 eggs basted , dry wheat toast ,coffee about $8. 50 I leave $15 yes very boring breakfast, but it’s better then my lunch , which is a protein shake after gym lol

It's totally golf cart accessible. You can get to it from Camino Real, which has an MMP that connects with Spanish Springs town square and Morse Blvd, all of which have golf cart paths.

You just go to the Regional Hospital campus and drive through their drives to the shopping plaza adjacent to them.

I love fruit and granola. My mom used to make sheets of granola for us from scratch when I was growing up. That's a snack/treat though, not breakfast.

Avocado is slimy and gross and green and looks like snot paste. I refuse to eat it.

I think they were referring to the First Watch in Wildwood on Rt 466-A.

A restaurant should not seat more patrons than they can serve promptly and get food to the table hot. If they don't have the staff, they should not seat patrons.

I ate there once but the food came late and only warm.

For me, the mark of a breakfast place is biscuits and gravy. I have not had better than Bob Evans. The specialty places (Flying Biscuit and First Watch) look like they should be better, but in my experience, they are not. Ihop has a bad rap, but a good breakfast.

taruffi57 04-29-2022 11:44 AM

We tried them 3 times. Great applebutter. Good omelette. Coffee stout enough to stand a dead man up. No other choices offered. Coffee has to be RIGHT, or no go. Too bad.

Flying Biscuit

I’ve always had a pleasant experience at The Flying Biscuit. Short on staff, but always nice servers.

tophcfa 04-29-2022 02:25 PM

When I read the title of the thread I thought someone was calling me out for tossing the disgusting biscuit from my golf cart that Kentucky Fried insists on including with the chicken.

There are two of them. One, by the hospital, and one in Trailwinds Plaza.

The former is GC accessible, the latter is not...

Regardless, the one by the hospital is too far for me to go by golf cart...

Rest assured if the management does not correct the issue you sight , watch for a closing . The old song we can’t hire staff is partly to blame, when no one of skill can be hired you hire warm bodies and hope to train them. I owned a family style restaurant for many years and know the problem well.

thevillages2013 04-30-2022 06:10 AM

I went to Limp Bizkit once. My wife thinks Fred Durst is hot I just think he’s flakey

Robbb 04-30-2022 08:11 AM

Do you know how many calories there are in those things? No one can eat like that.

For anyone with a farming background, this is a bad name for a restaurant...........

Have you aired your complaint with the Management? A lot of times it is an isolated incident due to lack of help at the time. I have heard of nothing but good ratings for this place.

justjim 04-30-2022 10:08 AM

OP, been there twice and was not impressed by the food or the service. Bob Evans and Darrell’s are closer and I prefer either one over the Flying Biscuit. Of course, you can have a poor dining experience anywhere.

So I go to Darrell's instead.

Been to First Watch, that was phenomenal, though again - very expensive. But at least it had what I wanted, which was...

1 or 2 eggs
toast with real dairy butter
home fries
bacon

I wouldn't eat there regularly because of the price. But it's a nice treat once in awhile. Their bacon is soooo good.

What century are you living in? Even IHOP charges $12.99 for a decent breakfast! Lolol

Found that we have been to quite a few IHOP's while traveling and found them to be high priced and poorly run so we go elsewhere. Darryl's does a good job

The point is that it sustains me until a light lunch. I am so active I burn those calories off pretty quickly.

I’ve always had wonderful food and pretty good service when dining at the Flying Biscuit Cafe. Their grits are the best ever a the biscuits are mouth watering. Give it another go.

Funny think their biscuits are not as good as others. Went to a dinner recently where cracker barrel was catering and thought their biscuits were far superior

I'm looking at the IHOP menu at Wedgewood IHOP, and the 2x2x2 is $9.89

That's $2 more than at the IHOP in Wallingford, CT, where I always went when I lived up there. And it's $4 more than the Senior menu in Wallingford. I don't recall if they have a senior breakfast special at Wedgewood or not. If they do, it'll be less than $9.89.

I didn't think it is golf cart accessible either.
And also followed a cart on 466A cruising along from Morse, Canal? and turned right onto Buena Vista and no Street Legal plate.

Once again, there are TWO First Watch restaurants...

One on 466A (Trailwinds PLaza) and one by the hospital, near Spanish Springs.

The former is NOT golf cart accessible, the latter is...
