If someone screened potential restaurants and approved only "great" restaurants probably 80% (and I'm being generous) of the existing restaurants wouldn't exist in The Villages. Yet these restaurants thrive. In high season you can't get into to any of the country clubs. All the restaurants on the squares are packed. So it really comes down to "supply and demand." If restaurants are busy and owners are making money, why is there any incentive to do anything different? Most Villagers want to go out to dinner and they don't want to spend a lot of money. So you're not going to get "great" restaurants when the market is satisfied with mediocre. That's just the way it is....

And yet, in a community where the internal eating establishments are part of the "marketing", I can't imagine that the Developer would simply lease space to anyone without vetting their background in the business they propose to start. Never said everything needed to be "high end", just deliver good food at a good price with good service. Is that too hard?

The TVRH (the villages regional hospital) is part of the ""marketing"" too, and it is not very well thought of. Sounds like you have drunk the KoolAide, I did too. Be very wary of Developer promises.

We also loved Glenview. Sadly, no more. I never send food back but two weeks ago, I did. We were with friends who would frequent it a few times a week but they stopped going too because of bad experiences.

We also use to go there frequently...Just got back, after 5 months and went last week for dinner. Terrible...I sent mine back....no charge of course, but was
very surprised....and when asking around the neighborhood, they also dont go there anymore...

The same guy that owns World of Beer in TV also owns Hacienda and Glenview. Both CC have the same problem with food/service. It goes to ownership/management.

Chatbrat 10-29-2018 05:12 AM

He has no business owning the Glenview and Hacienda Hills, World of Beer are franchises and all direction comes from corporate- all you need to run a franchise is $$ and help that are willing to work

Still a good place

We've never had a bad experience at Glenview, always a good place to eat!

We loved going to Glenview. Food was good and the atmosphere beautiful. The last two times we have had good service but the meal has not been good. We ordered the Filet Oscar and the filet was so tough we could not cut it! Our server was so upset. I don’t think this was the first problem with the steak that night. We have not been back and not sure we are ready to try again.

Chatbrat 10-29-2018 06:56 AM

To the people who have had good meals @ the Glenview-what did you eat-some menu items are impossible to mess up -like a BLT, a hot dog or a Villages cocktail

I sent it back and the manger came over and we just paid for our drinks and left.

Today we gave it another try and another terrible experience. Ordered a Chicken Quesadilla and it was floating in grease. Got up to bring it to the bartender and over heard a waitress say "here she comes". The manager didn't charge for the meal.

We're full time residents & I personally think it'll only get worse, to many people (snow birds) coming to TV & the resturants are all under staffed. It's all about making money for the Country Clubs!

They cannot serve good meals because they are not paying enough for their employees to travel the distance they have to. This area needs to supply affordable housing for those that support this area!

About pay, the Lighthouse is advertising for line cooks-pay is under $15.00/hr--ya get what you pay for

Glenview experience

Some diners echo my sentiments , it ain't what it used to be ,maybe those that were pleased were regulars and heavy tippers lol

When McDonalds is paying $11 to $13 dollars an hour for somebody to stand at the counter and ask "Do you want fries with that?", under $15/hr for a line cook doesn't come close to getting competent help.

I agree with CNM and OC Ed. This forum is to share experiences and opinions. I started on this, by reading Gracie(and others) posts for New TV'ers, for helpful tips and things to avoid, and it was of great value. There are powers in numbers, and as long as people are respectful, I think these posts are helpful(for us to do what we want with the info). The OP merely stated they liked the place, but asked what happened. Enough said. Go Sox!
