Default Good Thai Food

Is there a good Thai restaurant in the area.

I've been to Thai Ruby and was not impressed. It ranges from mediocre on some dishes to terrible on others. As much as I love Koyame for Chinese, they don't know how to do Thai. The same can be said for Bamboo Bistro.

I don't eat Thai very often so when I do, I'd like it to be decent.

I concur. There is one in Winter Garden that we know too.
Also search for "Asian" on The Villages Gourmet Club website. They have reviews too.

Default Goood Thai Restaurant

We lived in Thailand for a year 40 years ago so my taste buds may have adjusted some but we frequent Royal Orchid across from the mall in Ocala.

Not in the area, but if you are in the Fort Lauderdale area Thai Spice is excellent although approaching "fine dining" in atmosphere AND price. The Blue Crab Ton Ka soup is superb even at $10+ per bowl. We there three weeks ago for my birthday along with a couple of other good restaurants in that area.

We have not eaten in the other Ocala Thai restaurant mentioned. We tried on Saturday evening and when we arrived the place was nearly empty and after standing at the hostess stand for over five minutes decided they didn't want our business. I would be very interested if anyone else likes it.

IMO all oriental restaurants in Florida are afraid to ramp up the spices for senior citizens even when requested.

I completely agree, and it's too bad, too. However, I might add that I think a lot of folks can't take the spice. Not sure why...

Ayuttaya Thai Cuisine in Ocala. We ate there a few days ago and the food was very good. We have tried 6 or 7 other Thai restaurants in the area and Ayuttaya is the best by far.
