Had my first submarine sandwich in the Chicago area about 40 years ago. An instant hit. Wonder where they originated.

The Hero, Sub, Hoagie originated in NYC--it was the lunch staple of Italian immigrant laborers-who built NYC--it was so big, it also became diner as well

What did it taste like? Certainly not like a real sub.

How did u determine that u needed it gluten free?

It tasted like a # 8 sub....why would it not be "real"??? The bread was delicious! Don't knock something unless you've tried it and believe me---not ALL gluten-free breads are the same!!

I had a food sensitivity test years ago. IF I have anything with gluten in it...I feel sick. (don't think you need to read the symptoms)

The new location will be in the Tradewinds development along 466a---I think in that new strip-mall that was built there.

My friends laughed at me when I told them about Wawa's.
Now they love it it.

Publix makes a good fresh sandwich. Never been to Jersey Mike's.

Chef's of Napoli makes a great hot hero.

IMHO - Best hero/grinder was Red Rooster Deli in Bridgeport CT back in the days when I would eat a whole one and my waist line told me I ate too much.

2B....We finally tried NYC Pizza. (Did I type that right?) You had mentioned before that you thought it was good. When Shaumberger was in town the four of us went there and it was good pizza.
She liked it and she is a Chicago Pizza girl!I have had wonderful spaghetti at the home of a friend here in TV. We will try the sub at Wawa's on your excellent recommendation. You haven't led us astray so far.

Hey Crooklyn, Forgetabouit, if you want a SANGWICH like the old home WAWA is the spot, NOTHING comes remotely close. If I'm lying I'm dying! It's the bread, they figured it out.

Do you remember where that was? I grew up in Bridgeport in the 50s and 60s before moving to Boston for college.
