The Saturday morning market at Brownwood has a family that offers a large selection of homemade breads. Some are very tasty, and definitely better than the grocery store. Worth looking at, it may suit your taste.

Italian bread/pastry opinions are prob just like opinions for tomato sauce/gravy! It all depends on whatcher used to! We give Gio's a thumb's up for the bread but not for the pastry. However...their pastry is a tad above the pastry at Magnolia - 'cept for the pignoli cookies which are great and which Gio will not carry because of the cost [$20/lb at Magnolia last Easter].

Magnolia is a hike with a bit of a twist even with the GPS but I'd never suggest not going...it just might be more to your liking than ours. But if the trip is just for bread - skip it and go straight to Gio's. You might want to call Gio's t make sure they save you a loaf of bread - it can sell out quickly!

It’s in Yalaha, Florida, next to Howie-in-the-Hills. More than 30 minutes by car.

I want a good Scandanavian bakery (there is such a thing) with Danish pastries. Guess we left those places behind when we moved away. Not trying to be snarky....I think the ethnic restaurants and bakeries opened up when folks from those places started them for their communities. Can't be replicated due to the recipes etc.

Bottom line you will not find any Italian bread or pastry like in NY or NJ and perhaps Boston.

Have you been to Mazzaro’s in St Pete? I know it’s a hike but they are true Italian deli, bakery, specialty store. I go there to buy my sausage.

You might like Mazzaros Italian Market in St Pete. Quite a hike, but in my opinion, worth it.
