I thought I saw them in the boxes in Walmart on our last trip down. As was mentioned, I too did not want that many so I didn't buy them. Still drool though thinking about the ones I have had up north.

Just make sure when you eat the doughnuts, you eat them in pairs - never an odd number. That way you're spreading the load out evenly................ :shocked:

This is the statement from Krispy Kreme Web Site. "The initial investment to begin operation ranges from $928,000 to $1,883,250 for a Krispy Kreme Factory Store. I went to Web Site and WONDER about a franchise and I quickly realized that's out of my league. :ohdear: They just open a store in Portmouth, VA last Monday.
People were standing outside in line at 6:00 AM in 15 degree wind chill for the Grand Opening to receive ONE free doughnut. The place is packed and HOT DOUGHNUT sign is always lit. The new owner must be smiling all the way to the bank. I went to Krispy Kreme this morning and got a dozen off the line. My girlfriend and I consumed six before we knew it. ($6.99 a dozen) They are the BOMB! :bigbow: BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME!

High crime areas
 

There was a plan in large cities to put the stores in high crime areas... This would dramatically increase police presence!:)

Back to the topic. I just saw an article that I can't find now about a fundraiser that is a 5 mile run by college students, (NC Wolfpack), that requires you run 2.5 miles to a Krispy Kreme location and have to eat twelve donuts and then run the other 2.5 miles back.

Sounds challenging but I think I will pass. It's not the run that would stop me but eating twelve donuts. :)

They are great donuts and one in TV would be nice.

Short Fat Guy's Road Race
 

That reminds me of a tradition they used to have each Veteran's Day in upstate Skaneateles NY - The "Short Fat Guy's Road Race". The official criteria was that your waist had to be twice the size of your inseam, but they let anyone "run". It was a mile or two, you could walk or run. And there were a few mild inclines in the road - at that spot they had pickup trucks waiting for people to hop on to the back and ride up the incline, then hop off and resume the race. They had refreshment stands with Twinkies and beer.
At the end of the race, everyone waited for the last "runner" to arrive, and they all went over the finish line together, directly into the local pub. There was one guy who wore "Rambo" style X-shaped belts across his chest, lined with snickers bars and twinkies for easy access.
....But back to the topic of Krispy Kreme.....

Sorry, but I'll have to be the dissenter here. I have enough sources for donuts here with Dunkin Donuts and Publix as well as the few new leads I've picked up in this thread. So I can have all the donuts I don't need without there being a KK added to the list. Actually, I've never had a KK donut that I know of even though there was one in Latham NY not too far to go to get any. They, like in Syracuse, only lasted about 3 years before going bye-bye!

Another vote for a Krispy's in The Villages!

The closest actual Krispy Kreme, apart from stuff sold at grocery stores, gas stations, etc, is in Gainesville.

Oh, and if you are actually in a Krispy's, they make a glazed blueberry doughnut that is almost as good as the originals. Yum.

Don't need them. They failed back home. Warm honey dip are great. All others shck.

KK is alive and well here in NC, their birthplace. Each year, here in Raleigh, they have the Krispy Kreme Challenge. It is a 4 mile (or thereabouts) race with a twist. You run from NC State to the Krispy Kreme (2 miles) in downtown Raleigh, there you eat a DOZEN donuts and then run (or waddle) back within an hour. Last year there were 7500 people registered for this race. This year, it is totally full already even though the race isn't for 2 more weeks. The organizers are a bunch of NC State alumni who started this race with 10 people in 2004. Last year, they raised 100 thousand dollars for NC Children's Hospital. When I worked in Ocala, had Tasty O donuts hot out the oven and they beat KK by a mile. They have a store in Belleview but I bet they aren't as good as the one in Ocala. May have to make an early morning run to Ocala one of these days for some but have to get there early as they often sell out by 9 am.
