Oh but, CB, surely you would never allow bacon bits in your kitchen. And wouldn't your blue cheese have to be able to trace its DNA back to the walls of some cave in France.

(Uh oh, the mean girl in me just showed up.....but that's about as mean as I ever let her get.)

And, btw, Starflyte, thank you for bringing up lettuce wedges. I had forgotten all about them and I will make them at home........

Hey! CB! I can see that sneer! No need! I will use real bacon, just like I do in my German potato salad.

..........whatinthehellisthematterwithme.......I am on the internet being snarky about lettuce wedges.

I love German potato salad. I think mine is respectable.

My grandfather (mother's side) made a wonderful GPS. I remember the first time I had it as a kid, when I was probably about eight years old. It had tons and tons of onions!

I think Ruby Tuesday has the best salad bar around!

I have to get that vinegar to sugar ratio just right. I can't explain it. All I know is it can be done only by tasting along the way. It always takes me through at least 3 spoons.

Hi Henryk

Yes and no. If a person needs nourishment because of some malady then lettuce (salad) doesn't cut it. Such a body needs more. I am told that as we age the colon weakens as to absorption of nutrients and it is all the more reason to eat meat . I eat less meat at a meal now than I did just a did just a few years ago but I do maintain meat in my diet throughout a week

a lettuce wedge is good and tasty especially on these hot days

Moderation in all things...However my brother always replies "yea and I like a lot of moderation"

Yes, but how about the bleu cheese dressing, bacon bits and so on?

Lots of fats, extremely high in sodium and may even contain some sugars...
