Default Lopez Legacy

My husband and I had dinner last evening at Lopez. WOW!!! The entire restaurant was renovated. 5 separate dining rooms each decorated beautifully. One room has a garden wall. The bar is beautiful with dramatic lighting on the far wall. Additionally, there is a small private dining room. Hard decision picking an appetizer there were many good choices. We split the grilled octopus and it was excellent. Other appetizers shrimp wellington, oysters on the 1/2 shell, beef carpaccio, fried calamari and crab cakes. Soups include lobster bisque and mushroom brie. Entree's include several pasta dishes, steaks, seafood, lamb shank and a pork chop. There were other entree's that I do not remember. The entree's were paired with a side. I had the best filet mignon I have ever eaten. It was topped with foie gras and had an excellent wine sauce. The filet was paired with truffle oil mas potatoes. My husband had the rib eye with marble salted potatoes. There are additional sides to order including lobster mac and cheese. We did not order dessert. They had key lime pie and chocolate cake. This was the soft opening menu. I asked to see the lunch menu and it has not been finalized. They are concentrating on the dinner menu. George was our server and one of my favorite servers in TV. Everything was top shelf. ambience, food and service. We will definitely return. Owners and mangers were visiting each table.
Right now it is a soft opening.

Glad you had a great experience and weren't affected by any of the health department citations just reported on the other news site.

That was before they opened and everything passed on the next inspection.

The inspection came after the renovation, and before it re-opened. Surely they had plenty of time while they were restocking the shelves in the cooler, to clean up every single day.

The fact that enough rodents left enough poo on the floor, in the cooler, on the shelf, that the eggs were placed incorrectly (I don't really understand how that's a big deal but apparently it is), in the dry goods area - on the day BEFORE it was scheduled to open, tells me that they only cleaned up because they got caught - not because they thought rodent feces was a problem to prevent.

I have to agree. I thought everyone hated cockroaches.
I will be interested to see the next health inspection report. Before I eat there.

Apparently the rats and mice enjoyed some fine dining and eliminating there!

Kahuna, what is it with the “haters” label? Is that the same as difference of opinion?

Do you always check with the health department inspection reports before you go to a restaurant. Isn't that rather time consuming?

Nope. There’s an app called “what the health” (cute, I thought) that shows the results of the latest health inspection report for all the restaurants in your area.

Based on the latest news -like the article about Lopez, which got an F rating, I would just check the app quickly before I finalized where I wanted to eat. Pretty handy.

The inspection was done prior to opening as it should of been. Issues were found and corrected. Passed on second inspection before they were allowed to open. Ate there last night had NO problems or Complaints period! I will be back.
