Default Ribs at Mallory, Wed night special

Unfortunately, all four in our party ordered the Wed Rib special. Very disappointed with the dry, seemingly overcooked featured meal. As we observed other appealing dinners being served, we realized that maybe the daily dinner specials may not be the best choice. Mallory has always been a favorite for us. On this night, we learned our lesson.

My rule is, never eat a specialty dish at a resturaunt that does not specialize in that type dish. Barbeque is for a barbeque joint, Chinese, Mexican, etc., etc. We love Mallory, it is our favorite and great at things like sadwiches, hand tossed, brick oven pizza (our favorite), burgers, meatloaf, salads, etc. I have seen the ribs and they are not up to a barbeque joint standards IMO(smoked over an open pit).

You mentioned something I was thinking while reading these posts. There is another reason to be cautious about specials. You'll find another in #4 from the link I will be providing. That site gives restaurant secrets that some posters (not necessarily from this thread) might have avoided if they were aware of some of these secrets. I think I'll go back and read them again in hopes of remembering in the future!

I agree about going to a rib place for ribs but as a point of interest Mallory recently purchased their own smoker and are trying to get the " bark " coating on the ribs just right. I believe most non rib places buy their ribs pre made and than add their barbecue sauce to them. I usually go to oakwood but getting ready to try the new place, Texas something on 441 just north of Oakwood
