I was a vodka drinker for years and only drank Smirnoff's, not because of the taste tests that it won as I started well before those were taken. It is one of the few vodkas that does not give me a headache and I've tried most of them over the years. And yes, I have left restaurants that did not have it or I would just drink water. One that I went to was advertising that they had over 100 brands of vodka, this was around the time that Smirnoff was winning the taste tests and no, they did not have it, I left. When I drink I want to drink whatever I like, same with ordering food. Several times over the years I asked bars if they would start carrying Smirnoff's and at least two of them started and to this day still carry it, very popular brand.

The Pop vs. Soda Page When I was a teen I sold soft drinks at football games at a nearby college. I hollered "Soda Pop"... Usually I referred to all soft drinks as "cokes" while growing up in NM. |

Why not go Low-Brow? Smirnoff beats Alexi any old day. Drive carefully on and off the course.

I am so glad I don't drink so I don't know the difference between "high end" and what? "Low end"? I don't damn people that do drink, unless they get drunk and do something stupid.

Although I rarely drink vodka on a trip to Russia I bought a fancy bottle of vodka. Twice I drank a couple ounces from it resulting in serious headaches so I poured it out but kept the bottle. So, there can be a difference IMHO.

We have Belvedere and gray goose At our house. Since I drink it straight I can tell you for fact there’s a big difference between a five dollar bottle of vodka and a $25 bottle of vodka. Although I will say I don’t find gray goose or belvedere that expensive. And we say soda.

I will buy 3 bottles, a low priced brand like Smirnoff/Sobieski, mid priced like Titos/Stolli, and a premium brand like Grey Goose/Belvedere. There will be three rounds of three shots each, served chilled, and in order to win you must correctly identify every shot. Win and you keep the bottles plus $100. Lose I keep the bottles plus $100 for every error in identification you make. Sounds harsh? You are the ones telling us you are positive you can tell the difference and we all rubes. PM me for details. |

Alas! I am a sour mash social drinker from way back. Please don't hold that against me. ;) I am sure that all of us who have participated in this thread, (except the writer of Thread #58), would like to know if anyone PMs you and of course -- what the results are of your "study." |
