Default Netztell and Walkie Talkies at Resturants

Is anybody else upset when you are sitting down to eat at a Villages resturant you hear the beep and someone starts talking and then theres the next beep and someone else replies. I really don't want to listen to the conversation but its impossible and I really don't care that you've got a new toy. Several businesses in the area (not in TV however) have posted signs that the walkie talkie mode be switched to silent or private mode. Perhaps those of us that do not enjoy listening to how Aunt Mary is or if Bubba needs some more cement blocks could ask the management if something could be done. I mentioned this to the greeters at Cane Garden last week and they seem to be interested. I hope it isn't just me because that would verify my wifes comments, but that is another story.

While the Nextell walkies are important to contractors and the like I agree that establishments such as restaurants should require private mode while in their establishment.

A real pet peeve of mine. Yeah, Yeah we know, you're a big shot contractor eating while your minons slave away - we get it.

I cant believe the BIGGEST problem is Nextells walkie Takie...Granted the beep beep from the walkie talkie is constant while the conversation proceeds back and forth, but I think all Cell phone conversations should be banned or at last taken out of the earshoot of other guests who are dining.

and I have a Nextell!!

I think business like restaurants, theaters and the like should be able to have jammers that disable cell phones since it is obvious that entirely too many people have such little respect for others. Just my $.02 worth. :

Not only is it the beep, beep it's also hearing the other person over the speaker. I can live with one-sided non beep cell phones.

Whatever did we do before we had cell/walkie-talkie phones?

It amuses me that so many people are on them most of the time. All these calls can't be
THAT important!

Its everywhere. Not just in TV.

I'd much rather they ban...

People who feel the need to blow their nose at the table as you are eating dinner.

People who feel the need to tell a story at their table and be certain to be loud enough for everyone to hear.

People who go into great detail about their medical issues when you are trying to eat.

The cell phone would be last on my list.

I have found the best way to deal with this problem is when I hear the beep beep I ask for the manager and advise him/her to tell the offender to silence the phone, failure to do so I and my party get up and walk out. This will get the managements attention.
