Anyone know who the owners are?
Hopefully not an ex cop from the East Coast.
Some of the comments sound similar to a now closed Irish Pub in Orlando.

Bonny 04-24-2013 11:38 AM

His name is Wayne and Mike is the GM

Restaurants deserve a time to stabilize operations. Remember Whiskey Creek? They never got the kitchen thing right and a LOT of their primo servers quit to go elsewhere and Whiskey Creek died a rapid death and is now Sonny's. With that said, a good stablizing period is the first 30 days. If it is going to be good, it will be so after roughly that period of time. Not my "wisdom" but from someone who owned three restaurants, all total successes.

Where in Highland, NY? We too live in Highland and have a home in Sanibel.

I guess that means that someone didn't like an owner of a place in Orlando. Had a problem at my table, so I had a chance to meet the owner of O'Shea's the other night. Let me tell you, what a great guy. Really cares about the employees and the job they are doing. His name is Wayne and is from the Chicago area. Knows they are not perfect but trying to get better each day.

Love to see something other than a chain or "the usuals" making it here. Have been there, loved it, and will return.

Sounds like a pretty good place - especially if they have ice-cold beer. Do they have a Happy Hour with good prices?

I could be tempted to make the trek from North of 466 all the way down South - even though I have to get visas on my passport; have the proper shots, and go through passport control.

Buggyone....don't forget the time zone changes when you go! When I head up to your area I always pack a parka and gloves.

Your right, open a nice place they will complain about something.

begdeb 05-07-2013 10:58 AM

I want to try it but I keep forgetting about it. They need to put an ad in the Daily Sun weekly like some of the Country Clubs do to remind people they are out there.

Bogie Shooter 05-07-2013 11:12 AM

Sounds like they are doing OK without advertising.
They had an ad in todays Daily Sun.

Bonny 05-07-2013 09:33 PM

Nice ad in the Daily Sun for Mother's Day. Sounded like a great menu. Lots of good specials !

asianthree 05-07-2013 09:36 PM

another place on my list to try

BobbieJoSunshine 05-08-2013 01:28 AM

Went In for the first time on Saturday night, we had a fun time. they have many TvS, Which were a great touch. Our waitress was fantastic. We requested her based on other posts and replies. We also saw many familiar faces from the Villages. We enjoyed our food. Taco Salad and a Reuben. Our beer was ice cold and Our waitress, Kay suggested the soup, Chicken Tortilla and We loved it! We also on Kay's suggestion, tried the Guiness Brownie Bites with ice cream. Overall we has a great experience and cannot wait to come back to O'Shea's Sports Pub.

They advertise occasionally. I cut out an ad from a couple of weeks ago as a reminder to give them a try.

It's on 44. Just go out of Brownwood, make a right & it's just down on the left.

I think it is RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET from the entrance to Brownwood on 44. Across from the bronze animals.

Sorry. No, it's opposite Powell Rd. on SR 44. Half mile west of the Brownwood main entrance.

I had their chicken pot pie last night. It was the best I ever ate.

DianeM 05-15-2013 12:23 PM

A pub would be awesome. Hope they make shepherd's pie

llaran 05-15-2013 12:38 PM

We went last Sat late afternoon and I had the sheperds pie, it wass quite good. But, my husband and friend ordered the Irish Stew, it was bad, my daughter tasted it and agreed, so they both sent it back and split a rueben which was not very good. I guess can happen but my husband won't go back.

DianeM 05-15-2013 12:43 PM

Shame that they were disappointed. Hate when that happens.

simpkinp 05-15-2013 01:18 PM

I hope he changes his mind and tries them again. Anyplace can serve something not up to standard once in awhile. It is a nice place with good atmosphere and a varied menu.

Went there tonight based on a number of recommendations from Villagers on TOTV. In a nutshell, it's way over rated. Haddock Fish Fry was OK. No better than the Lighthouse which is a whole lot closer to go to. Shepards Pie, with all due respect to those of you who like it, is mediocre at best, topped with what I am sure were Instant mashed potatoes and a gravy that was totally runny. If you want shepards Pie in Wildwood you will have to go to Polly's Pantry where the SP is top shelf.

Way to far to drive for a mediocre meal in a place that has no aeshtetic appeal whatsoever. Reaffirms my long standing contention that a vast majority of Villagers are indiscriminate when it comes to eating out.

LittleDog 05-16-2013 07:13 PM

My wife and I went there this afternoon after a movie. My wife had the Irish Stew which at first she liked but then decided it was kind of bitter. I had the fish and chips which I thought was good. The fish was flaky and the breading was good. This is the second time we have been there. As far as we are concerned what we had was all right but nothing out of this world. It's an OK place.

nitehawk 05-17-2013 07:33 AM

whats the big deal --- its ok --- that it --- not great

784caroline 05-17-2013 11:03 AM

Went there last nioght. WE would rate it "Good bar food". Had meatloaf and Fish and Chips. I didnt think the mash potatoes were instant..they tasted real to me and gravy was OK. As an appitizer, onion rings could not be beat for $3.95

As the General Manager of O'Shea's Sports Pub, we would like to thank all the Villagers for visiting our humble restaurant. In reading your posts we have learned the things we need to improve on and the things we do well. Each and every post is a learning lesson that we take seriously. If any one would like to come in and discuss anything, I personally would welcome that. Also, anyone who would like to see how we do things, such as hand peeling, cutting and mixing our mashed potatoes, may indeed do so. Again thank you for your views and opinions as they will lead us to become a place everyone is happy with. For those who we have failed, we are sorry.

Thanks for the post!! One suggestion, since you are adjecent to a retirement community of approx 100,000 people, you should make you menu with larger print.
