This is indeed great news. As we already see several Villagers will complain about anything. Always focus on the negative.
|
I think that we should all sit tight and let them open and then have an opinion and if you do or don't like it, it is your personal taste. We all come from different parts of the country and being a New Englander I wish I could go to the boat and buy lobster for $5 bucks like I used to but I have chosen to move here and this is the place that I need to be happy. I happen to love O'Shucks because of their raw oysters and others would not step foot in their parking lot. Yes we all have opinions, likes and dislikes and you may not like their other restaurants but you can't tell me that there is nothing on those menus that you would enjoy. Sometimes we don't give a place a chance. One time and your out. We can't get into Bonefish and we can't get into the Lighthouse so obviously we need a seafood restaurant. Most do use Sysco and to be honest they do have a good product if it is prepared properly. I worked for an upscale caterer and that is what we used. Affordable and a good product and if you want fresh Sockeye Salmon at $15.00 a lb or fresh swordfish at $18.00 a lb or even red snapper and expect to pay $14. or $15. a plate with potato and vegetable you should stick to what you know and not have an opinion on restaurants. Between waste and overhead it is a tough business. Let's give them a chance please....

But WHAT
|
I won't judge it until it opens & I try it. I'm just trying to be fair & not pass judgement on them before they open. In all fairness I'm not big on fish!

It's a pity that so many of the restaurants in The Villages are owned by the same people. Even at the "country clubs" the food is mediocre at best, and that's putting it mildly. Same menus, same service, same blah food. Guess that's why Bonefish is always so crowded. People crave something different from the usual "syndicate" fare of restaurants owned by the same family. Just once I'd like to see a really good independent restaurant opened here, like the small establishments opened in Winter Park by REAL trained chefs who know quality fresh ingredients and stylish (not imitative) presentation. I'd rather pay more and get quality, freshly prepared food than pay cheap prices for cheap food. Would a restaurant like that be successful in The Villages?
|
I think the fact that Villagers eat out such a tremendous amount of the time keeps up the demand for low prices.

Amazing to see where this thread has gone since the original post.....smh

I for one think it is great news and want to give them a fair chance. If they create a great venue it will certainly be a welcome addition to Brownwood.

There is plenty of space available. Where are you thinking about opening? |
Hopefully the food will be better than the owner’s other restaurants where you feel like you’re eating out of the back of a Sysco food delivery truck!!

This would work. That was in Asbury Park. My dad called it Taylor Ham so that's what we called it but the real name is Taylor Pork Roll. |
I got it!
What we need is a new restaurant that has Le Cordon Bleu trained chefs, no meal over $15...and tipping is absolutely banned. It will be called..... ....Bleu Hair. :D |
Turner's. Leesburg. Take money, enjoy a great meal or go back to Red lobster/olive garden.
Taste reality. Print that great recipe u drool over on line, buy the "quality" products missing at all the TV restaurants. Then check your cost? You won't eat that **** shrimp from Asia? What's the price for Keys shrimp at the dock? Transportation, train Chef, lease building, install kitchen, hire staff, food prep, cook, plate and kiss your ass service. All for $15 and a buck fifty tip. You expect a quality meal on the cheap just because that's all the money Villagers have to spend? Look around. Conspicuous Consumption rules this place. Except when eating dinner out? I thought it was the current generation that's Entitled. The world owes you. What? You won't find a great cheap meal anywhere. Although, Wendy's does have a 4 for $4 deal. Enjoy. Don't like a restaurant that's not yet open? Open one yourself and be ...... The Talk of The Villages. Let the bitching continue..... |

Quality food, try The Rose Plantation in Fruitland Park off 466A. Not a long drive and excellent food. It will cost a lot more than you pay in The Villages but worth it.
|
I just hope Bluefin has a lot of cold water fish not just the usual grouper and tilapia that is served here.

I am just wondering when this company will take over all the restaurants in the Villages. Move food to be prepared in Ocala and shipped to the Villages. What we need is variety, not rubber stamped stores and restaurants. I do like the fact that is being called.a fish restaurant.
|
The Rose Plantation food is very good;however, the ambiance needs improvement--tables are too small ( for 2 people), especially if your table is loaded with wine glasses, water glasses, and a cocktail glass, feel like I have to have surgeons hands to fine tune , when I'm eating there--and the noise level can be harsh @ times--but we go there

All I can say is with all this supposed not up to par food served I wonder why when I go to most of these supposed bad places they're packed with people waiting to be seated. Also looking in the mirror I don't see where I'm not finding food to fill my belly. I came from the Northeast and most places I go I have no problem with if I do I scratch it from my list. We all have a bad night once in a while. Don't see this guy opening another Restaurant if he wasn't making money.

As I said: “past experience”....are you kidding? I’m referencing the other four country clubs that exist here in The Villages. I’ve been to every one of them. See half page ad on D11 of today’s Daily Sun. That’s what I am talking about. Do you want me to name each one? I didn’t say it was open yet. I repeat: “past experience”. Hopefully they can get it right for the fifth time around.

Sad that we live so close to the Gulf and Atlantic but no fresh seafood restaurants.
