Actually I tried it yesterday. There was a line of people and I waited 15 minutes. I ended up at the counter which is close to the cooking area and very cramped. I watched so many fellow seniors attempting to sit at the stools. They should learn their demographics and provide better seating. Having said that, I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit and a waffle plus a cup of tea. My bill was over $18 without a tip! Go to First Watch and spend the same for a quality meal. To me it is nothing but a greasy spoon diner. I will not be going back.

At First Watch a sandwich, waffle, and coffee would be $32 before tip!

The Ham and Cheese omelette is amazing! Nice and fluffy. So good!

Read a recent article (sometime in the last two weeks) that looked at what chain restaurants had the highest increase in prices in the last couple of years. Waffle House was #1 in price increases.

Having move here in the last 3 years from "up North", I wasn't familiar with Waffle House at all, and was very surprised at the cost of breakfast at all the restaurants "down here". Looking at recent Waffle House costs for a typical breakfast (2 eggs, meat, hash browns & toast) it was something like $14.50 and I don't think that included the new 50 cent surcharge per egg. By way of comparison, same type of breakfast "up North" when I visited last year was $9.00 including coffee.

There was an update to that article that moved Waffle House to sixth lowest.

It seems like I need to do some research. I don’t trust what I’m seeing online for prices from Waffle House or Darrell’s. Plus, I wonder if there is a surcharge for being close to the Villages. I do know that $12 is a pretty typical entree price for the breakfasts I’ve had recently.

One WH is on 441across from
The college and past the airport. One in Clermont and one out west by I75. None of these three WH is very close to The Villages being developed in the south. The new WH is just off 441 near the new BJ’S close to The Villages and accessible by golf cart but several miles from new villages in the south.

I would rather go to McDonald’s for a sausage biscuit and a 1.00 cup of good coffee. Dunkin is close to bankruptcy.

No idea if close to bankruptcy but these days avoid them. Notice that at rest areas along turnpike can take a half hour to get what you purchase. How hard is it to dispense a cup of coffee and take a donut off a tray?
