Hat off to Chat. Went to Sam's last week about 10 AM. Was super impressed with their meat selection. Bought 2 lbs of USDA Prime Filet for a little over $40. That will make 4, 8 oz. petite filets for the price of one at Ruth's Chris, Morton's, or Chop House.

And to Aloha 1, the Admiral & myself had the greatest hotel stay in our life @ Kapalua Bay in 1981-- it was a dream hotel, the Admiral cried when we had to leave

Been there only three times since new. Food is OK. Service very good. Noticed spilled food on floor for quite a while before someone finally took a minute to bend over and pick it up. Drinks not suitable to my taste. Can't compare to Bonefish for L.I. iced tea.
Will try again though.

I love the ChopHouse. We have been there at least a dozen times and have reservations for twice this week. MY food has always been very good and so has the service. IMO one of the best in TV.

We have been back twice since the Chateaubriand incident. Tried the DelMonico Steak and the the next time Surf and Turf. It was very good. Mrs. Nucky liked her meal both times so I guess things have improved. I can definitely see why people love this place.

Now that you mention Thanksgiving......

Back in September, I called to make reservations for 6 for Christmas Eve dinner. I was told The Chop House was not taking reservations for Christmas Eve until after Thanksgiving, stating they were very busy for that holiday. Hmmmmm. Who knew they were closed on Thanksgiving????

Anyway.....more to the story. I called The Chop House the day after Thanksgiving at 11am when they first opened. I said I would like to make reservations for 6 for Christmas Eve. I was told they were booked up for parties of 6. What????? How can that be?????

I know now that I should have called every week to try to make a reservation for Christmas Eve. Long story short, the manager squeezed our party of 6 into a banquet that is for four people. I declined that because the reservation time was too late for our group.

I'll be more prudent for Christmas Eve 2020 as we hope to dine at The Chop House.

I just checked the menu on-line. Chateaubriand is listed under "Specialties".

I'm glad you gave Chop House other tries and they were good experiences. It was great of you to let us know too.

We are going there tonight. Tomorrow is our 46th anniversary and the entree'was Chateaubriand at our wedding reception.. I will probably order it tonight.

I'm not into hammering any restaurant. I was just being honest and very kind.

I don't think there is a business on earth that can't have a bad day and they should be allowed to skate once or twice tops.
