Customer Respect and Satisfaction
There are a number of things that help make a business successful. Some things that come to mind are: Providing a product or service that consumers want; providing a product or service that is of high quality; providing a product or service that consumers feel provide value for the cost; and a high level of customer service and satisfaction. I’ve never been to Ollie’s and probably never will. Why? One reason is because I don’t think the owner is very bright. Let’s look at this logically. Let’s say half the population doesn’t buy the mask thing. They would go to this establishment whether or not the staff is or is not wearing masks. Now let’s look at the other half that believe masks have some benefit (whether they do or don’t). Well, Ollie’s attitude just turned them off. So, why doesn’t his staff wear masks? Let’s look at all the negatives to wearing a mask. I guess one is the intolerable discomfort. After all aren’t they nailed or screwed onto the face? Oh wait a minute, they are cost prohibited. Those cheap 10 cent masks which cost $1.00 now will break the bank. If he has 6 staff members I guess that $6.00 a day will bankrupt him. So apparently he’s willing to turn away potentially 50% of the consumer base because they “don’t have” to wear masks. Pretty stupid to me. I prefer to spend my money at places that “appear” to be concerned with my health, whether they really are or not. Places like Walmart, Publix and Costco are not required to wear masks yet they do. Why? Because it makes some of their customers feel more comfortable.

Unless you are talking about using a N-95 rated mask, wearing a cloth or surgical mask is equivalent to erecting a wire fence to keep the mosquitoes out of your yard. They are ineffective and are mostly a "feel good" solution.

Do you see how ridiculous you look? |
People need to get over this obsession with masks. Why do you think they are not mandatory? Because they don't really prevent you from getting anything. They just make people feel good.

Yet you still shopped there. If you were not comfortable, you should have left before making a purchase

Instead , you purchased your ice cream ..... I honestly don’t get it ...... Edit: sorry I didn’t read the previous 4 pages of posts to realize others made the same comment ..... And judging by many of the responses, mine was quite kind ..... ;) |
Using a business is like a vote every day. Everyone has an opinion and each is sure they are right. I was in Japan in the 90s and a lot of people there wore masks for transmittal reasons. Their numbers look pretty good through the virus.

Thank you! Totally agree!

Actually, not totally correct.

As to your statement that masks don't keep you from getting anything, I might offer that, depending on what mask one uses, it may keep you from getting a snoot full of pollen, a mouthful of love bugs, and may even lessen the degree to which one may be exposed to any number of potentially harmful particles, chemicals, germs and bacteria. Things are not normal right now and a lot of folks are stressed for any number of reasons. I would like to suggest that we all show a little compassion for each other and try to be a less judgmental. |
Surgeon General says cloth masks don't work. If they did everything could be 100% open. Masks are just for show. If the server doesn't have covid you won't get it. If she does, her mask wont do you any good if she hands you an infected cone.

Maybe they take hydroxychloroquine like Trump!
No matter, RESPECT is a keyword, and those small business owners should encourage to comply with the guidelines! You can ask if the employee takes a hydroxychloroquine pill or not.

My mask blocks droplets so I can not shed virus into the air if I ever become an asymptomatic carrier of the virus. I am keeping you safe, not myself. |

You can not be serious that you think someone with a mask is sick and diseased. It is just the opposite. People are wearing masks because they feel fine and not sick but do not know if they may be an asymptomatic carrier of the disease. Would you prefer to be in contact with someone without a mask but is an asymptomatic carrier of the virus? Think about that! |

This is how we Americans can mitigate this virus........wash hands frequently, wear masks when you can not social distance yourself from others and distance yourself when you can. |

Wait.... You felt so uncomfortable that you remained in the store and actually bought the food? Then complained about it after the fact?
