Haven't found one that good here! Papa Johns is probably the best this area has to offer but where I come from it's not in the top 10. Bravos is probably the worst I've had here ..but jmo! Wish this place existed here it's in the Boston area...http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...U3DP0h76pgu66Q

When I first moved to the SF Bay Area in the early 70's I met a lady who was also from the Chicago Area who missed good pizza too. She was a medical sales rep and had to go to Cleveland for monthly meetings. She would always go thru O'Hare and bring a pizza back with her.

We go every Monday night and last night Tim even made me a white pie just like home. Mrs. H had a great calzone. It's all good and Tim Just had a birthday yesterday

I vote for Aurelio's.

:mmmm:

chuckinca 10-18-2011 10:23 AM

My kids pics are still on the walls of the Aurelio's in Homewood - and they are now in their early 40's.

Back in the day we would have big pizza parties for the neighborhood. Man the pizza's were flowing as fast as the beer and wine.

another neighbor would do a pig roast. Had designed a roast pit in his back yeard that he could revert back to landscapping

My maternal and paternal grandparents were from the Naples area. My Dad favorite was Neapolitan pizza.

chuckinca 10-18-2011 12:53 PM

I love Neapolitan Ice Cream!

I heard from a waiter at Olive Garden that the best pizza is TJ's.

The waiter is correct TJ's is the best:)

Best Pizza

I am from CT and searched a long time for good pizza. I found it.
DanZaneos in Ocala. Best NY style pizza around!! :clap2:

Pizza

We like Papa John's but always get it delivered to our home due to lack of eating space or not much of one in their place. They need a begger restaurant!

Bluesmama 10-24-2011 12:40 AM

Pizza

Where in Ocala is DanZaneos ?

Bluesmama 10-24-2011 12:45 AM

PIzza

Hedoman, Pauly's Pizza sauce tastes like tomato sauce. The only good thing I can say about that place is they have the best garlic knots.

Pat_RI 10-24-2011 08:27 AM

I still haven't had any good pizza yet...I'm still surprised nobody has opened up a good place yet in one of the town squares.

Pizza

Best pizza in Fl. by far is Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza, but the closest is in Orlando. If you ever get there also have to try there wings. Oven roasted with olive oil, hint of garlic and rosemary and then smothered in caramelized onions, and served with wedges of focaccia bread. AMAZING.

Is there anywhere that is more of a Scilian style? Not Chicago deep dish. Eons ago we used to live in RI and there was a place in N. Providence called Twins. Our favorite at that time but haven't found similar in/near TV.

Help!

Mallory CC will make the crust anyway you like. Thick, thin, or in between.

But the last time I had it, it was on a small, thin, flavorless, cracker-like crust that looked pre-formed because it fit the round serving platter (not a plate) exactly. Two of us had pizza and the crusts were identical. Now I don't mind a thin crust pizza, but I like real pizza dough, and this looked like something bought in bulk, pre-formed and pre-cooked with special serving plates that match its size. Just slap some sauce on it, throw it in the oven to melt the cheese and serve it. Very quick and cheap. I hope this is a temporary thing.

Cane Garden is more like a flat bread crust. We believe that Mallory CC has the best traditional crust. Hand tossed and pressed in corn meal so the crust has a crunchy, nutty taste, Try it, you wont be disappointed and it right here in the neighborhood !

Bonny 10-24-2011 09:22 AM

The pizza at Red Sauce is pretty good.

zcaveman 10-24-2011 10:27 AM

I enjoyed the last two pizzas I ordered from Toscani's in Mulberry. I thought they were better than the Pauly's pizza that used to be in Mulberry.

The pizzas are much better than when they first opened.

LittleDog 10-24-2011 10:39 AM

I usually like thin crust pizza as does my wife but we went to Snappy Pizza the other night on Bichara Blvd. and their pizza is quite good even though it's not thin. The sauce is excellent and they use crumbled sausage instead of sausage slices which most other pizza places use. We plan on going back. The small pizza was just the right size.

We used to love the Snappy's two medium for $13 on Tuesday but they discontinued that offer.

OH...I wish we could order a pizza and have it delivered. Even a not so great one. I think I have seen pizza delivery cars around here, but forget which one.

I am also having serious withdrawal from Cincinnati Chili.

See? All you folks who want negative....SEE? This place isn't perfect!:a20:

CBarkley 10-24-2011 02:46 PM

I vote for a Jets

And for location...anywhere close enough that they can deliver to Buttonwood Village. By far we miss Jets Pizza. We are from Palm Harbor, and miss them dearly. :loco:

I believe Snappy Tomato delivers.

No Chili issues with me, my wife makes great Chili and in a pinch I can go to Wendy's.

Now if only we could get the recipe for Toojays Cabbage Beef Soup!

We New Yorkers were pleasantly surprised. Stopped there today, had a large pizza and brought two small ones home for friends. So far, it's the BEST we have had in Florida........next stop Belleview Pizza up North .......friends highly recommend that too.

Papa John's delivers.........they speed through the Villages!

LLCFL1118 10-24-2011 04:56 PM

We have found that the best pizza & food is at Stavros. It's on 441/27 going towards Leesburg, just past a Wendy's on the right. It is the original Stavros location. Good food.

I have a great recipe for "Winter Stew" that has cabbage in it....this is a very thick, hearty stew and it's delicious. PM me if you would like it!

Is it the Polish version of Hunter's Stew, i.e. Bigos?

Gosh, I had to look that one up on the internet as I have never heard of it! I did see some similarities when I read that Bigos has cabbage and sausage in it. The recipe I have calls for cabbage and keibasa, although I have used half keilbasa and half meat balls. It has other vegetables and tomato sauce among the ingredients. I bake mine in the oven in a big turkey-size roasting pan. The recipe makes a lot of stew!
