I dont do take out there , But have eaten there and always had great food.

Went to red sauce last night . First time in over a year. Same problem as I’ve always had there.......the red sauce. Way too spicy , not smooth and ever so slightly sweet. Not the sauce I grew up with in an Italian family from the East . I have tasted tomato sauces in many Italian restaurants and homes from coast to coast. Never one like this.
On the other hand the service , atmosphere and the bread were good.
I will go there again , but no red sauce for me.

What do you think of Carrabbas' red sauce? I imagine their version may be too spicy, too, since it came from an Italian family by way of Texas.

none of them are close to a real good "gravy"

A good Italian meal

After not going there in quite some time I called and ordered a meal out at Giovanni's and it was a pleasant surprise.. The meal was excellant, it was not spicey, it was ready when I went to pick it up! Since then I have ordered meals out 3 more times and each time they were great. I would really suggest it to my friends.:mmmm:

It’s a matter of taste. My complaint is that most restaurants serve bland food. I love spice and I have to add it to most restaurant foods. My buddy is Cayenne Pepper.

I enjoy eating our meals at home too. AND really like to cook and we eat at home most of the time. We had a nice take out dinner last night from Bob Evans; Grilled chicken breasts, mashed potatoes and gravy and cole slaw. Comforting and hot and tender and yummy. LOVE their cole slaw and hate cole slaw from other sources.

I am German descent from Ohio, so the first I knew Italians argued about southern or northern "gravy" was three years ago. I do admit to loving Italian food and we really like Carrabbas.

We will try Giovanni's take out. Thank you for the recommendation. What did you select?

Choices

We ordered Chicken Cutlet's, and Carbonerra, both with angel hair pasta. One of the things I like the most is that the sauce seems more like good italian basic sauce. It is not loaded with spice and is not hot. We have spent a lot of time in Italy including renting villa's in Tuscuny and a number of other places and never had "hot" sauce pasta, etc. If you ask the waiter in the villages if it has a lot of spice they will say no which is a "young person's" idea of Italian sauce while it is has a lot of spice. Giovanni's is the first place we have found it is not loaded with spice. You may also want to try their "Italian Cookies":icon_hungry:

That sounds good. Things can get too spicy for me easily.

Giovanni’s is really good. Try the linguine with clam sauce. Only wish it was more like a restaurant than a coffee shop.
