Default Red Sauce Closes Deli

I went to Red Sauce about 10:00 AM on Monday to pick up some of their Italian Bread. I found the deli side door locked and a sign indicating they were discontinuing their deli to concentrate on on site catering. Not only that, but I looked in and it looked like the entire deli counter had been removed, the floor retiled, and restaurant tables were in place. I was there Saturday morning and didn't see a sign of this impending change.

No more loaves of bread, no more breakfast pannini's or pastries (and I assume no more of those great carry out dinners for two). A tremendous loss as far as I am concerned.

A significant change to the character of Sumter Landing in the early part of the day. I hate to say so but I hope it turns out to be a bad business decision.

Cool

That's too bad, but I suspect they have decided to NOT compete with Panera's, who will be opening across the square in the near future...

Probably a smart move to focus on their core business... Panera's will have a hard time competing for the dinner business, where Red Sauce & Urban Flats will thrive.

I was there last week for the 2 for $12 dinner and learned about the closing. The 2 for $12 will continue to be available in the restaurant. It's a shame to lose a place to get fresh bread and a sandwich.

Missed my opportunity to try the two-for-twelve dinners at Red Sauce.

We are SO sad about this. We loved going there in the morning for their great coffee and muffins. We also really enjoyed the two guys who worked behind the counter. I hope they reconsider some day, and open the deli back up.

I am NOT a fan of Panera's bread and will miss the bread from Red Sauce.

I'm wondering if Red Sauce is in trouble. My daughter put in job apps at the various restaurants around LSL yesterday. The only one not taking applications was Red Sauce (most restaurants will take apps even if there are no openings because of high turnover). To me, this means that either Red Sauce employees are so happy they don't leave (pretty rare) or they know they're in trouble and won't hire new employees because of the cost of training, etc.

I just finished a comment of great eating experiences in the villages on another thread, so let me add that the single exception to that was Red Sauce. After two negative experiences we don't plan to return. Our last visit was when we were on our second lifestyle preview, our sales associate asked how we enjoyed it when we returned to her office and she was surprised at our displeasure, commenting that she was surprised and had not heard that before. There are still many many choices, even in LSL.

We've enjoyed the deli food from Red Sauce and will miss it. The two for $12. were great and a nice quick dinner.
Life goes on, things change, sometimes we like it, sometimes we don't. This closing, I don't like...

We love Red Sauce and go there often. I am sad to hear the deli closed, we are going to miss the fresh bread and deli counter. Glad to hear you can still get the 2 for $12.00 dinners.

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Red Sauce and its was quite good at least compared with the other Thanksgiving dinners we had in previous years at Katie Belles and Arnold Palmer Country Club.

We had planned to try the 2-for-12 takeout but had not gotten around to it yet. I guess will have to get take out from Olive Garden when we want Italian food.

Some readers are missing the statements that the 2 for $12 are still happening even tho the deli has closed. Let's hope that false information doesn't get circulated or those dinner deals will in fact be history. That being said, THE 2 FOR $12 DINNERS TO GO ARE STILL IN EFFECT

I don't know about the rest of their food, but we had the worst pizza we've ever had there. I asked the waiter why didn't our pizza have pizza sause on it and he said if you'd have asked for it we could have put it on. That's like having to ask for a weiner in a hot dog.

I have to ask this. What do they put on the pizza if not sauce.

Did a menu say no sauce would be on the pizza?
