Question Special Dietary Needs

I will be hosting some friends for a few days who have imperative diet restrictions. They must eat both gluten-free and casein-free foods. Importantly, they have to avoid cross-contamination from other foods. They can get very, very sick very quickly if they eat "contaminated" food.
Can anyone recommend restaurants that meet these criteria or am I doomed to cooking throughout their visit?

I don't know of any in the Villages that could provide both. Also this time of year with more people I would be more concerned with cross contamination; especially with you saying they would get very sick. In the summer, with smaller crowds, I might feel a bit more comfortable. If you have any favorites here, give them a call and see if they can work with you. I think you might be better off cooking.

I agree. It is so busy now that cross contamination is the main concern.

You'll have to call around. Then "IF" you find such a restaurant do not rely on the wait person, ask for the chef to come out and you explain the situation. Only then will you get the service you need and want. Cross contamination, as the other posters stated, can be a real issue so yes you may end up eating at home!

Jimbo, I seem to remember you saying that Las Tapas altered some of their dishes to suit your dietary needs. Do you recall?

Maybe they would be helpful. Plus, there's 90 things on their menu. Surely a few of them would suit the guests' diets.

Perhaps some of the prepared deli items at Fresh Market would be suitable? Or a roasted chicken. It's not dining out but might save you a bit of cooking labor.

It they're gluten intolerant or have celiacs....I have heard Mom and Dad's on 441 accomodates that issue. Not sure about the 2nd issue you spoke of. Having food intolerances doesn't make living the life of our culture easy. Processed foods have A LOT of additives and items that we shouldn't put in our mouths.
