Dear Mr. Brat. I have caught you yearning for a "lesser cut of beef".

I see your brisket and I raise you my chuck roast.

NO ONE CAN SAY what another finds tasty.

May your food bring nurture to your body and may you live long and prosper.

Corn Beef and Pastrami - Sliced by the Pound
$32.00

Spend over $200 and it ships free. I'll bet 4 oz makes a good size sandwich. Sounds like a good idea for a theme party. Each person puts up $10. You may need a couple of sides.

Somewhere a Jewish deli owner is turning in his grave!

The corned beef must be sliced from a flat cut brisket.
It must be served on rye bread.
It is so written.

So let it be written. So let it be done. :D

Katz's never made a sandwich that wasn't sliced by hand and under 12 oz's

NotGolfer 04-17-2018 12:21 PM

We're NOT in New York or Philadelphia, or Boston or Chicago or wherever it was we came from. We merely try to find something that could, or might, remind us from home. To diss the places that do this is futile IMHO!! I, for one, don't do sandwiches anymore due to not being able to eat the bread...and I do miss a good bread. BUT it would make me sick to ingest!

Amen! Don't forget the dill pickle.

Katz's Pastrami Hot Sandwich
Smoked to juicy perfection and hand carved to your specifications. Ask for mayo at your own peril. $21.45

Menu & Local Delivery — Katz's Delicatessen - since 1888

I see they too have black and white cookies, like TooJays. I had never seen them before. It must be a Jewish deli thing.

Ahh Katz's has been a tourist trap for years.
Give me Eisenberg's any day or Frankel's where I can get some matzo ball soup.
Katz's......meh. Pickel's out of the jar. Don't even make their own mustard anymore.

My husband!! :icon_hungry:

But seriously, I'm very picky with my Reuben's. Mainly because I hate everything that makes up a Reuben, except when they're all put together LOL

Havana has a sandwich called The Steamer that I thought was delicious. It's similar to a Reuben without the sauerkraut.

Used to be a great pickle store a few stores past Katz's

My husband also can't eat bread or anything with gluten if that is your problem. The only gluten free bread that he will eat is Glutino that they sell in Publix at Southern Trace. We initially needed to have them special order it for us but now I guess it sells really well because they keep it stocked now.

Our "pickle store" in Ohio was a shelf among the canned green beans, cornrelish, tomatoes, and chow chow, bread and butter pickles and dill pickles, down in the basement, next to the room that held coal for our furnace. I helped mom can sometimes.

I think it is interesting how where we come from colors our food choices.

This is another topic that really needs a new thread. My son has celeriac disease, so no gluten. Like peanut allergies, this seems to me to come out of no where. It's real. And if you notice the how many more items they sell in the store it effects many. I'll start one
