My wife and I had the pleasure to eat at Gator's a couple of sunday's ago to watch football. We had good food and drink and decent service. We spent a few days house hunting and taking in the squares. All around we had good experiences in all the establishments in the villages. We are looking forward to closing and moving down soon.

The Villages refuses to allow children because this is a retirement community, has been and always will be. Sorry for your bad experience and thanks for your service. By the way 99.99% of Villagers would concur on the Thank You. |

Thank you for your service for our Country.
I'm sorry that you experienced this, but it is most certainly not the norm. I've always experienced very good wait staff at Gators and all of the other resturants here in TV. She was a kook and certainly does not represent others here in TV. |

Sorry, but you have probably stirred up more of a hornet's nest than you intended! With nearly 30 years of U. S. Army service, I am strongly inclined to express my praise for all our military. But, I am also a resident of The Villages very much appreciating our particular lifestyle. I think that you were miserably treated in your encounter, BUT I also think that you've painted all Villagers as not only anti-military, but also anti-young! Nothing could be further from the truth! There are huge numbers of veterans here. There are huge numbers of supporters of our troops. There are virtually no anti-military. Again, sorry. SWR

I had a bad experience there a couple years ago with a waitress and just decided there is many other places around where I can spend my money. Never have gone back.

My hubby would have told her off (in few words-if you know what I mean) and I would have asked for the mgr. I used to not be like that- just take crap- never complain- but someone has to step up to the plate. Why not us????? |

I am part of a non-profit group (Grateful American Coin) and our mission is to individually thank military members and veterans for their service while at the same time raising money for the Wounded Warriors and Paws for Patriots. I meet many veterans here in The Villages, and I think most would agree there is no friendlier or supportive community in the world! I have dined at RJ Gators several times and have never once experienced or seen this type of rudeness, so perhaps it was an unfortunate anomaly. In any event it should have been brought to the attention of the manager. Thank you for your service!

Wow!!! I don't blame you for being upset about the waitress's statements and attitudes but to tar all of The Villages this way is just as out of line.
I've eaten in many restaurants with my 3-year-old grandson. This kid couldn't sit still or be quiet if his life depended on it. I've gotten a few dirty looks from those sitting near us (don't blame them in the least but I do remove him when he gets too loud or rambunctious and try to eat at off hours) but have never had anything but the kindest words and great service when he's been with me. Most servers coo over him (he is a doll with his big baby blues and an absolute charming personality). I am not anti-Islam and do respect people of all religions. Your comment that our SUVs needing more parking spaces is just as ugly as those who advocate the death of Americans for having so much. I loathe extremists and bigots of any kind. To hate all because of some is wrong. I'm sorry you were injured and permanently disabled. Disabilities are not something I would wish on anyone and for that you have my sympathy. I'm sorry the waitress was so rude. No one deserves that type of treatment. However, I do wonder how you came across to her given your comments here. She may well have been provoked (still wrong on her part, but possibly understandable). As to Villagers, we come in all shapes, sizes and attitudes. You'll find some who hate little ones. You'll find some who love them. You'll find some of the kindest, most generous and giving people in the world here. You'll find some of the friendliest people there are living here. You'll also find the grumps, the mean-spirited, the small-minded, the petty. Fortunately, they are in the minority.

I fought for this nation, I put my health and well being at risk for America, and defend my service & brothers in arms and sisters 100% of the time. With that being said, my wife and I decided to dine at RJ's since we had eaten elsewhere in the Landing the night before. Out of the clear blue as my wife & I were having a conversation, our meal was totally ruined because our server decided it was appropriate to tell us that she thought our child who is 4 months old who was watching Fox News on the TV's above head, shouldn't be watching such poison. She stated our child should be watching cartoons. We refuse to allow our children to watch cartoons due to the constant indoctrination of children to a number of alternate lifestyles we don't approve of and won't expose our children to. That is our choice as parents and America's destruction internally in our opinion is due to because children are exposed to many things they have no business being exposed to. Then the server went on a triad about our military, and how we should be accepting of Islam, even though they are killing our citizens and we should just accept them into our nation with open arms BLAH BLAH BLAH. Frankly, after having friends killed by Islam and their radicals, I bet you know how I feel what we should do about radicals who attack our troops. Let me say this, we need more parking lots for our SUV's worldwide. My wife at this poor is in shock over this servers blatant and bold disregard of our peaceful meal that she has now destroyed. Then we decided to leave because we had had enough of her BS, and on the way out the door she decided to tell us we should teach our child how to read, like some how she has determined we are now unfit parents unable to rear our own child. One of four I might add, the oldest of which is on active duty in the Army. If this is the norm for the villages, as far as political views, the hired help, or overall attitudes towards parents of small children, or military members you can be assured we will no longer spend our time or money in the area. It seems this sort of attitude towards children, would explain why The Villages refuses to allow children take residence there." ___________________________ First, let me say that I doubt this actually happened. The poster is not credible sounding when saying a waitress would mention anything about a 4 month old child watching a news program and the poster defending a 4 month old child watching the news program. No waitress would say anything about a 4 month old learning how to read, either. As to the poster saying that he does not allow a 4 month old to watch cartoons because of their influence for "alternative lifestyles" is just as ridiculous. Never happened! Secondly, since the poster was not in uniform (being 100% disabled, obviously he is not in the military, how would the waitress know he was military to begin talking about the military? Never happened! Thirdly, his comment about reducing countries to parking lots shows his ignorance towards the world. Fourthly, is it credible that he would have a child in the miltary AND a 4 month old child? It is possible BUT I would have doubts to that being truthful. I have the feeling this is a spoof and is the work of a disgruntled employee of Gator's who just want to "get even" for some reason. The poster has only one post entered. As Dennis Miller says, "I may be wrong" but this post just seemed too over the top to be credible. |
