Even when they can easily afford...a higher quality cigar. Which simply underscores and proves the old adage that..."you can't buy class." |

I would prefer to sit on the floor and eat with a whole pack of dogs rather then sit next to someone smoking. Remember when there were smoking sections on airplanes. Row 20 would be non-smoking but you could smoke in row 21? Now that was nasty!

I am an ex smoker, and longtime dog owner.
Wife and I just do not eat in any establishment, that allows any smoking, or dogs on any part of the premises. The only exemption with dogs we agree with, is guide dogs for the blind, and medical emergency trained dogs. Those animals know how to behave and act in public places. |

Drifting clouds of smoke pollution have driven me off the patios at two country clubs in TV. Furthermore, I refuse to walk through a fog of tobacco smoke on a restaurant patio to enter the establishment. The stench sticks to one's clothes and hair. Yuk! Not being able to sit on a restaurant's patio and enjoy a meal due to some nicotine addict generating environmental tobacco smoke is unacceptable to me. Florida needs to update its primitive smoking laws. I have not had to suffer second hand smoke while trying to enjoy a meal in years within the two communities in which I spend the most time.

We have given up on eating at many of the popular restaurants and country clubs due to smoking. We prefer the taste of our food unflavored with cigarette or cigar smoke. We moved to the Villages for the Healthy Lifestyle approach, unfortunately this philosophy does not extend itself to outdoor dining. Since Disney has just banned smoking on all Disney properties, I hope The Villages will follow suit so we can enjoy our town squares, restaurants, country clubs, etc. without a risk of lung cancer. |

OK Good Reasons
Would suggest if anyone has a question regarding smoking they can call the Urology Dept of Mayo Clinic for the reason to avoid
smoking. It seems a major reason for Bladder Cancer is smoking as the smoke leaves the body BUT the tar resides in the Bladder and is one of the major reasons for Bladder Cancer. Hopefully some will read this and understand one of the risks of smoking. If you have bladder cancer one of the first questions the Doctors in the Urology Dept. will ask "did you or do you smoke". |

I have a feeling it's the state law that drives who can do what where in a restaurant. In Michigan you can't smoke in a bar or restaurant, inside or out. Some state lawmakers are trying to change that. In PA we were in a restaurant that had a cigar mezzanine inside: Pa. Lawmakers Consider Smoking Ban in All Bars, Casinos. ... Under the current Clean Indoor Air Act, smoking is allowed in some sections of casinos, along with private clubs, bars with minimal food sales, some public outdoor patios, and even cigar bars. So maybe it would be worthwhile to encourage an outside ban in Florida. Although with the tourism revenue that comes in, I think it would be a hard sell.

We continue to dine at the country clubs and other popular restaurants but do not sit outside due to the cigarette smoke. I would love to sit outside when the weather is glorious but just can't do it and be comfortable with cigarette smoke wafting while we eat.
