I'm a Firehouse Sub Fan. MUCH better than the rest. Just my opinion...

Carla B 04-05-2024 08:33 AM

Whatever footlong sub we get is a little too big for the two of us to consume the first day, so I slice the remainder in "pinwheels" and grill them them in a hot skillet for breakfast. This works especially well with the Publix Italian subs. So Yummy! Wish I had one now.

Their bread is to die for. Always looked forward to picking up an Albuquerque Turkey at the Austin Airport, but Schlotsky's must have gone away when they remodeled the terminal.

Had a Schlotzskys in MA for a brief period. Just didn’t work out there.... but that round bread and ingredients were great.

"Meat"ball.

Plus, anyplace that calls a hoagie a sub, is a nonstarter for me. I'm looking at you New Jersey.

Please don’t say it’s a grinder. Creepy

A grinder is not a cold sandwich like a hoagie or a......grrrr......sub. A grinder is put in the oven. Kind of like quiznos if quiznos was good.

You would starve in a Boston area ‘sub’ shop if you asked for a grinder or hoagie. Sangwich is an acceptable alternative! ;)

Calling them Grinders are Connecticutese.

ron32162 04-05-2024 09:54 AM

BIG difference to me is EVERY time I eat at Jersey Mike's I wake up at 3am dying of thirst and have to drink a full bottle of water Very high sodium content. Subway never bothered. Which is better Jersey Mikes but Subway is more healthy option.

MidWestIA 04-05-2024 10:40 AM

sub

Don't care about size just taste I like Jersey Mike's because of bread and their sauce

I can live with that. Or maybe a Lawbsta roll.

I think that some will say that Jersey Mike's is way better than Subway. However, I will point out that the Subway footlong is 50 percent larger than the Jersey Mike's regular size, which is only 8 inches long. Both cost about the same price. Is the Jersey Mike's sandwich really worth the same price for 50 percent less food?

They are both terrible. Publix is better and they should buy out Subway and rename it Pubway!
I also like Firehouse Subs but there are none close by….

It wasn't a filler, it was a dough conditioner chemical. They removed it from their recipe in 2014, ten years ago.

McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, Wendy’s, White Castle, and Jack in the Box all used the chemical in their breads in 2014 and eventually removed it from their recipes as well.

Schlotzsky's was AWESOME. I only had it once in upper New York State. Never saw one anywhere else in my travels so haven't had a chance to try it again.

I usually get the special of the week. 12 inch sub as low as $6.99. Plenty to share with another. Always fresh and the taste can't be beat.

Schlotzsky's? Sounds like a Russian disease. Like, "I ate that sandwich and now I've got the schlotskies". Ewww!

Crazy how combinations of letters bring thoughts and images to the mind isn't it?

Like - fdpaq = fud pack = something that would get me banned for vulgarity.

Nah. A fud pack is a skin treatment in beauty salons that cover your face with hot fudge. Like a mud pack, only tastier. I like walnuts in my homemade fud pack. I make small fud packs, put them in plastic bags and give them to the trick-or-treaters at Halloween. 🤓

I hadn't been to a Subway in years, but recently went with my neighbors and was pleasantly surprised.
My issue was always wondering if their meat was from a farm or roadkill.
Still to be honest if I'm going to get a sandwich and eat it by myself, I will go to Publix.
This way I can get Boar's Head.

Subway hired Megan Rapinoe as a spokesperson. Megan is anti-American and I haven’t had a subway product since.

Interesting....but you ate there when Jared Fogle was the spokesperson of Subway from 2000 to 2015? He of the conviction of and serving a Federal sentence for 15 years for sex crimes involving children. Hmmm

Wow! This sounds just like our daughter and her husband (minus the pedicure) who just spent this past week with us. I finally asked my husband where my foot rub has been the past 46 years. LOL!

Publix is my choice

The Big Kahuna at JM is great but Publix is now my new choice. The bread is fresh baked. Meat generous and the weekly specials are a bargain.

FenneyFanatic 04-06-2024 07:15 AM

Subways subs are terrible. Jersey Mikes are just slightly better than terrible. I’ll order a Publix sub whenever I feel the urge.

While we occasionally get subs from subway, we prefer Jersey Mike's for the perceived quality and freshness. Pubsubs are also pretty darn good, but like anything else it's personal taste.

No one knew that. And he was dropped immediately when the news broke that he was arrested...

That said, I was never a fan of Subway...

But gimme a Jersey Mikes #13 "Mikes Way" with banana peppers?

Jersey Mike vs Subway?

My wife and I paid $28 for two sandwiches at Jersey Mike s last week...nothing impressed us, just a so sandwich...Subway is a reasonable price, but we do not like its breads/buns. JJ's is the champ with great taste of buns and sauces, etc. It costs more little than Subway, but it s worth. We will never go Jersey again.

Shipping up to Boston 04-06-2024 09:40 AM

You were doing so good too....only problem is ‘MA’ is Massachusetts.......ME is Maine. You’re getting there tho!
