Pt, it is weird.

I must confess that the lyrics I know are almost all from before 1980. And a lot of them are from before I was born. I pathetically wish "Name That Tune" was not a thing of the distant past of television. (I used to shout our the answers from the couch. But (sigh) nobody in California could hear me winning the $100,000 in cash and prizes, no matter how loud I yelled the name of that tune.)

A while back, there was rumor around these parts that there is somewhere in TV where people play "Name That Tune." But I never found out for sure. I think it was just a dream.

After I wrote that earlier post, Mr. Boomer took me out to dinner. When we were leaving the restaurant. I saw the most beautiful car. A CL550 Coupe. Oh my gosh! I was in luv. I peeked in the windows. My luv grew deeper. It was the most beautiful car I have seen in a long, long time.

Then I came home and looked up the price. $110,000. So I guess I will just have to get over my new love. Never love anything that can't love you back. Right?

But...I bet you can guess what song has been going through my head since. (And that is a tough one to get out. And I know it's kind of bad.)

Would it be "Little Deuce Coupe"? I actually recognized "The night chicago died", but your St. Louis song was just a little too obscure. I would have been with Mr. Boomer on that one, thinking that you had made it up.

I'm usually really good with lyrics too, and I know I will probably not even need the cheat sheets! Like I said, it was a panic mode thing!!

My first set is pop, my second set is country and my final set is broadway. Hey -- all good. I absolutely love country music It always tells a story. I have heard that country songs are often written after somebody says something that just gets it all started. I actually have, sort of, written two country songs in my head. Well....really all I have are a few lyrics.....very few....ohhhhh, but wait......I can't write music. Gotta find me a collaborator I guess....or, at least, gotta get me an actual attention span and finish those lyrics.

You both sound like naturals to try out for "The Singing Bee" on CMT. Melissa Peterman (from REBA show) hosts a karoke style show that is all about knowing the lyrics to the songs. The music is mostly country, but not always. It is a fast moving hour long show if you haven't seen it. It is on Friday nights, but I generally DVR it and watch at a more convenient time. My wife and I really enojoy it and if you DVR you can get some of the older re-runs too.:MOJE_whot:

I've been to at least two "social" events where the entertainment of the evening was "Name That Tune!" If I recall correctly, there was a couple equipped with some sort of amazing player, so they could even take requests. And, one party was the St. Louis Club, so several St. Louis-oriented songs were obviously played. ("Meet Me in . . ." of course).

Sorry I can't identify the twosome, but both parties were fun! A huge challenge for me, though, as I grew up in and kept a purely classical music household; my exposure to the popular music of whatever day was and remains minimal!

Maybe The Mayor will be able to find out for us. She knows so much about TV already!

I must tell a story sometime about when a friend of mine and I got started on songs with geography in the title. It all started with "Mention My Name In Sheboygan." And we kept putting Sheboygan in place of all the other locations. It went on for months....."I Love Sheboygan in the Springtime" and "Way Down Yonder in Sheboygan" and "My Kind of Town, Sheboygan is My Kind of Town"....on and on it went.

I know that Sheboygan is not in MO though so back to St. Louis. There is nothing like those old "St. Louie Blues."

Oh this is just awful. I have no business posting after midnight. Here I am in Ohio with my brain still on Colorado time like it was last week and the beginning of this week -- convenient that was because I was actually in Colorado......

Now, here I sit, in Ohio, up way too late. Thinking of songs with geography in the title, a city, a state, whatever, so I can stick Sheboygan into the location part. It is way too late. I2, I have been singing your song. It works. Of course, I am sure you have sung it, too. And, therefore, you know that at the end of that first line, we get to sing "a CL Five-Five (really fast on the Five Five) Oh-Ohhhhhhh-Oh-oh-ohhh. It works perfectly like that. It is quite wonderful actually. -- can sing those Oh's in a really dramatic way, and sound so sad. I can embrace the unrequited love by singing all those Oh's. Ahhhh, the wonders of music therapy.

....Darn it. Now, I am thinking about that car again. How did you know it was black? I have been to the Mercedes website. I have played around with all the interior colors. Mr. Boomer keeps looking hopefully over my shoulder.....It ain't gonna happen. Yeah. I can just see it now. Boomer the now oh-so-conservative investor taps the retirement account for a car....yeah....right. Nobody is ever going to gainfully employ us again. Nor do we want that to happen. Ah yes the black Mercedez. I bought mrs L2 a certified pre-owned black E350 for her b-day and v-day this year. Beautiful car with all the bells and whitles. I have a silver one for a company car so I know how well they ride, handle, and all the great features they have. Not new, but a 2007 with only 12,000 miles and cost less then a new Accord so somehow was able to justify it. The CL550 will have to wait until I win the lottery. And I have a very long list if that ever happens. But I digress.

Back to the music. Maybe Janis was from Sheboygan?
