We've been there a couple of times. I love the ribs & the sizzling chicken & cheese. A great addition to the Villages.

I know it's the high season, but a hour plus wait to be seated is ridiculous. At this time of the year, why not take reservations?

I'd need rye wiskey to wait that long. Oh wait, I'm mixing threads again.

And the official opening is not until next week.

As with many Fridays, you can call ahead one hour before you are going to be arriving to be placed on the waiting list for a table; 352-259-0443. It is not unusual to wait an hour or more to eat at many Fridays I have been to, especially if you are coming at peak dinner hours. We went to the new Fridays here on Thursday night, and luckily there was only a short wait when we arrived at 7:30 PM. The decor is very slick and classy, much more than in some of the older Fridays's. We loved the atmosphere, service, and the food; and they had a $4 per glass wine special. Welcome, Fridays, a great addition to The Villages.

Default Tgif

As with most new restaurants in TV, if good, they are packed for the first few months. Last night we saw the crowds waiting to get in at TGIF, which sent us scurrying over to Cody's which also was packed. We waited forty-five minutes for a table; however, the food at Cody's is always worth the wait and we had a superb meal. I had the early bird Ribs and they just fell off the bone. I hope when we do get into TGIF it is as good as Cody's.

Fridays has the $12.99 special for appetizer, entree and desert. I thought the appetizer would be small but I was wrong. The spinach dip with chips was more like a meal for one person and it was delicious. The parmeseasn crusted chicken entree was accompanied by a caprisi salad and small portion of tortellini with a cream sauce. WOW...what a delicious meal. For desert, the brownie with vanilla ice cream drizzled with real hot fudge and carmel sauce was out of this world. All for $12.99. Can't go wrong with that. I'll be back!!!

Default TGIFridays with patience

Went there for lunch yesterday with my friend. Not too long of a wait considering it just opened. Liked the atmosphere and overall buzz of the place. I wasn't that hungry so I just had a salad while joining my friend who suggested we go there. He ordered a steak medium well, it came out well done (which sometimes happens which is why I go medium). He normally deals with it but it was charred on the one side and not very appetizing so we asked the server to send it back for a medium well and please don't over cook. The next one came out medium rare and we asked for the server again. This time I could tell he was kind of getting annoyed. Mistakes happen and you are given a chance to correct them and it still comes out wrong is frustrating to say the least! We informed her that this one was medium rare and still cold in the middle. She argued with us and told us it was medium well, so we cut the steak in half in front of her and watched as all the blood poured out. We then asked for the Manager. He was apologetic right away and said he would take care of it. We said a new steak was not necessary they could just cook that one to temperature. He said no, we will bring you a new one. The third one came out and it appeared as if the cook had put it on the grille for one minute on one side and one minute on the other. Needles to say this one was RARE!!! He ended up not eating any of them. I felt so bad for him especially since he suggested we go there. My salad and drink was fine no problems but I really felt bad for him. Oh, almost forgot, when we finally got the bill we had been charged for three steaks even though he didn't eat any of them. The manager finally came out and took care of it. The server was full of attitude and the Manager saying they had new cooks and staff and so on. I thought I had read somewhere on here where someone posted that these chain restaurants bus in employees so this exact thing doesn't happen at a new opening? It looks like some of you have had better experiences than us. Like to hear the good and bad about places. Just wanted to put it out there.

Thumbs up TGIF's

We like the new TGIF's. All our visits have been positive. I would say that at this time of year, if you can't handle the wait, then you should consider staying home for dinner.

Default It was great for us.

We ate there last Saturday night and as usual during this time of year the place was jammed packed, so it took some time to get a table. There was 9 of us and the food was wonderful and timely. There service was excellent as well. We'll go back, but maybe wait until the crowds get a little smaller.

Default TGI Fridays-A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

There were six of us in our party, this past Saturday night March 6th. We did call ahead dining an hour prior to arrival at 6PM...Arriving at 7PM the place was filled with people and things were popping. We checked in with the girls at the front and were told as soon as they had two tables open up that could be put together, we would be seated. Over an hour later that occurred. During that time period I was standing off to one side of the desk and witnessed at least five groups of people come in and were jumped ahead of the line. They pass out numbers with seating assignments and show the numbers on neon screens inside and outside the building. More people were seated without having numbers assigned than not. After we finally were seated the manager came over and offered his apologies and told us one of the appetizers was on him. By that time none of us really were hungry and we ordered drinks and salads. One of the problems is staffing. When you hire a huge number of young people to stand at your front door without any experience pandemonium is what to expect. My friends and we agreed never again would we allow ourselves to be put into a similar position at this restaurant again. There are too many other restaurants around that do not treat their guests so shabbily.
