Used to like Thai Ruby years ago, not any more now. Uninspired, over-priced and bland. I think there was an ownership change some time ago.

Many years ago my wife and I were in Thailand and in a local street restaurant.
Ordered a meal for my wife who loves strong spice, and the waiter said, "Not for Westerners."
Told him to bring what he thought we would like, and the meal was out of this world, spicey, but under control, and I am not a hot spice person at all.
I think the local Asian restaurants dumb down authentic.

Asian and Mexican restaurants turn down the heat and spice level. Last time at Thai Ruby I asked for Thai authentic. That dialed up the flavor, and the heat was there but not overdone. Delicious meal.
