Default Thai Rubi

Just thought we would give this place a try again as we had a poor experience the first time. Went for lunch and each had noodle dishes. My wife the glass noodles with shrimp and me the Pad Thai. Each ordered med spicy. BAD! I figured a "Thai" restaurant could not possibly screw up Pad Thai. No flavor, not spicy, and the noodles were chopped up into 1" pieces. I added a bunch of chili paste and ate it anyway. My wife got through the glass noodle dish but felt sick on the way home. Waitress was efficient but with zero personality. Not sure how this place classifies as a Thai restaurant but I guess folks don't mind mediocre food. Never going back.

I’ve been there three times. One good 12 years ago. Last two were awful. I’m done with that place.

Sad. It was one of the first places we ever ate at here 3 years ago and it was delicious. Been there twice since and the food has definitely changed. No spice and not very authentic Thai.

We have been there many times. Most recently for dinner earlier this week. Food and service both have been great. Never had a bad meal there.

We used to go to Thai Ruby for lunch now&then. Not for almost a year now, as we like VKI Japanese and Bamboo Bistro MUCH more for Asian food.

More of a Chinese restaurant than Thai. I find the Thai food there to not be very authentic.

I stopped going there a couple years ago. I found the only legitimate Thai spice they used was lemon grass. Other than that, it was uninspiring general Asia food.

Not close to Thai food and should not be compared to Asian food.

I love Thai food but agree this is not proper Thai food, My wife is not a fan at all and I only go for the occasional Massaman curry which is half way there in the absence of other options.

We have been to the Thai Blossom in Winter Garden which is better but a long drive and still not authentic Thai

Does anyone know of any other Thai restaurants within driving distance ?

I have found that the Asian and Mexican restaurants here dial down the heat (spiciness) probably due to appealing to the clientele. A request to make the meal authentic or auténtico can make a difference.

My wife and I tried Thai Ruby this week. First I asked if they have papaya salad since I didn't see it on the menu, but they don't have it. We ordered the Amazing Beef, Chicken Panang, and Pad Thai (yes, it was a lot and we wanted to take some home). EVERY SINGLE DISH WAS BLAND!! Later the waitress said they used to have papaya salad but don't anymore because customers complained that it was too spicy. They must think that ALL of their customers want bland Thai food. We'll be looking for other Thai restaurants in the area.

Our favorite Thai restaurant not TOO far away is Soong Thai in Ocoee on Hwy 50 directly across from West Oaks Mall. We like Thai Blossom in downtown Winter Garden, as well.

There is good Thai food in Ocala, Orlando and Winter Park. Never will return to Thai Ruby. The food is tasteless.

Ruby Thai's is below average and over priced (for what you get).

It's not Thai food. The food is bland and spiceless. If you ask for Thai hot, the best they can do is to make it a little spicy... but with very little actual flavor. If you really want Thai food, I have found two places that offer great Thai food - both in Ocala. Ayuttaya Thai Cuisine is a great sit down place. Food is very flavorful, and Thai hot is actually Thai hot (almost too hot!).

Thai To Go is a dive - small restaurant connected to a gas station - but it's run by a Thai family and the food is amazing. Note that there is no beer or mixed drinks at this place - but the food is worth it!

Went to Bamboo Bistro--top notch, they have just about every kind of Asian food that's available-OD's on whole fried snapper, Maine lobster, best Hoisin ribs ever,KimChi, and some kind of soup-with shrimp, pork, & chicken-WOW !!

No need to settle for junk
