Lived in Germany for three years. The best we have found is in Sanford, Hollerbach's Willow Tree Cafe. It is always busy and reservations are suggested if you are traveling that far. With traffic it is about an hour and fifteen minutes drive from the Colony Plaza area of the villages. They also have entertainment at least on weekends and a deli/store around the corner.

There is a restaurant in Mount Dora which is highly rated by the Villages Gourmet Club members who have eaten there but on our only visit we thought the entrees were not very well prepared and the spaetzel was watery.

There is also a restaurant in Ocala which we visited three times before we discovered the restaurant in Sanford. The food was just okay.

This place is very good (about the same time to get there as the Sanford restaurant mentioned):

Try The Schnitzel Factory in Ocala. The family that owns it is from Germany and the food is wunderbar!

A group of us (about 15) went to the Schnitzel Factory about a month ago. Each of us received our plate of food several minutes in between. So... the first person was finished when the last person still had not received their food. That's no way to run a restaurant. We will never go back. And none of us thought the food was very good. too salty, tasted cheap.

A group of 8 of us went to the Schnitzel Factory last Saturday night. We all had a blast. The band was great and the food was pretty darned good. Service was good.. Our waitress explained the menu quite well. We will definitely go back!
