Saving Favorite Restaurants without personal risk
Please consider a gift card purchase at your favorite restaurant that can be held until you feel safe to dine out again. Turners Kitchen and Bar in Leesburg is an exquisite restaurant that is challenged in this pandemic. I bought a sizable gift card some time ago that they are holding for me. Until I feel safe again, Turners can use the money now to help them manage.

When in MI I go to Ann Arbor to eat at Zingerman's Deli, the best west of the Hudson River. But at $16 for a full sandwich, Villagers would not support this great restaurant. Their breads are amazing. Check them out.

Not with the high rents the Developers charge.

TooJay's in Lake Sumter Landing is still open. Is an easy, enjoyable and quick golf cart ride from Spanish Springs Town Square.
Gator's Dockside, Amerikanos and Margaritia Republic are still open in the square. Just up Main St we have The Corkscrew, Panera, Ay Jalisco and Ruby Tuesdays. Just off the square on Alverez McCalls and Flippers Pizza are still operating. Then if you go a few hundred yard to the east there is the Publix strip mall where Sakura, Darrells and a Chicken Salad place are open. A couple of restaurants closing is not a big deal. TooJay's filed for a reorganization type bankruptcy. It's obvious that they would close underperforming stores. It has nothing to do with apartments. Demshar's is closed temporarily. Hopefully, they will be able to reopen soon. Once we have a vaccine and get back to normal, those spaces will get filled. |

Very disappointing. I love TooJays. I understand that the pandemic has effected many businesses especially within the restaurants. But, with the building of apartments in Spanish Springs I fear what might end up at TooJays site there.

According to today's Orlando Sentinel, TooJays is under new ownership and has emerged from bankruptcy. They had 30 stores and closed 9. The stores at Lake Sumter Landing and Brownwood are still open.

TooJays
not "the real thing". Prices nominal, but no where near quality of NY / NJ kosher style restaurants.

Looking for a good reasonable priced Gabilla knish. Too expensive at Publix. Publix does have good bialys though. |
I guess starting that diet when I did was a bad thing for these businesses.
Most of all I feel sorry for the workers trying to provide for their families. The Restaurant Business is a rough way to make a living around these parts. Water, no tip, small tip. Keep it up and we'll be traveling to eat at a decent restaurant or eating fast food on 441. I hope the owners rebound somewhere else. |
