I guess we will have to try it again. I tried it shortly after it opened and could find any discernible pieces of chicken (as if it had been ground so finely you could not see any chicken). I can not believe everyone likes their chicken salad like that, so I will try it one more time.

There are those who make chicken salad " chunky" and those who make it smooth. I like it both ways, but the mayonnaise to me is the factor that makes it yummy. I will stick my neck out and bet it's Hellmanns. Waiting for my friend Wandatime to debate me on this...lol. |
Is their salad that much better than the salad from Fresh Mkt-can't see going out to eat a deli item
Please enlighten me |

I don't know. Haven't had Fresh Market's Chicken Salad. The going out was half the fun because we went out with a group of good friends in a club that Helene and I have enjoyed belonging to for several years. Our purpose is mainly to go out to lunch together and we do helpful things for others too. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a genuinely warm staff of folks and good soups too and an amazing broccoli salad. You can buy all of the items and take them home as well. |
Here's MY bottom line: I've tried many of the 15 different chicken salads and 3 of the 4 salads. I have a couple favorite chicken salads (all on a croissant) and the broccoli, pasta and grape salads are all very good, but my favorite is the grape.
I prefer the non-chunky chicken salads so Chicken Salad Chick is my place. And for anyone who feels the same way a "hefty" drive is worth it. And the service IS exceptional. Give it a try. |
Totally agree with all the positive sentiments. They have enough varieties of chicken salad (15 or so) that anyone who likes chicken salad should find a number of flavors that they will like. Also have sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. Decor is very nice, service is great, and place is busy, especially at lunch. I have tried a number of the chicken salads, and have liked them all, but my favorites are the one with cranberries and almonds, the Buffalo Chicken salad, and the one with jalopenos (not too spicy hot).
Overall, a very good lunch/dinner spot and a good addition to The Villages. It is located between Belk and Winn Dixie in La Plaza Grande off 441. |
Time to chime in I guess - went there for lunch (live 'south side', but was near the hospital around lunchtime), so gave it a try.
- easy to order, nice easy to read menu boards and hand-menus if in line. - I had the cashew/apple CS on croissant and broc salad. She had the reg CS and fruit cup. - it was 1:30 so not too busy - food out within 5 min - looked appetizing and very fresh. - I knew going in I was a chunky CS guy - her not. CS was good - not great, light in the cashews and apple. I definitely like chunky... - croissant was very fresh and large - good choice. Broc salad was outstanding, fruit cup large fressh slices. - small point but plasticware and plastic cups etc very high quality and not flimsy - the pattern of the vinyl table cloths were not of my liking...blah - but the interior of CSC was really nice (chicklike, with light greens) The owner/mgr stopped by our table and we gave him the above feedback. He said they get their chicken in daily and prep all the salad in the AM fresh. He was non-commital re Chunky CS - bet he hears that every day - it's a franchise so they have little flex for sure. We would go back if 'up north' during lunch. |
Love Chicken salad chick. We get 2lbs to go, and I add chopped Apple to
1lb. & chopped onions to other. Between the 4 of us - it's a great addition To our lunches at home. |
I just heard that Connie Nonnie's Son has opened a yogurt place in Rolling Acres Plaza called Blu Spoon. (Next to China Bistro) I am going to try it soon.

Thumbs up
I also have been to Chicken Salad Chick multiple times, yesterday being my most recent. The food is fresh and the sides are yummy. I usually go with half sandwich and cup of soup. It comes with a dill pickle. I'v had the broccoli salad and the grapes and they are both great. They are always very accommodating and the decor is nice and the seats comfortable. We usually get there at 11:30 and by 11:45 the place is packed! I will continue to "drive way over there" to have lunch. It's worth it. Sure wish we had something like that South of 466A.

Wife and I have been going to CSC a few times a week for several months. We fell in love with the soups, the different kinds of chicken salads and the wonderful friendly workers.
Everything about CSC gets a big thumbs up from us. |
One of my favorite places to eat!
|
Wish they would open another place on the south side in the future.
I'd love to be able to do take out more often. :icon_hungry: |
