In Virginia, I think they made it illegal to have peanut shells on the floor. It was a safety issue.

Actually I do not think that the OP’s post had anything to do with Bonnie’s memory nor the good times she had there. This was about the salad containing a food prep glove. That is just not right. Ooh...yukky!

If any of you had a brother like I did, it is a wonder we could eat at all. He was always saying gross things about the food until mom squelched him. For instance.... Tapioca pudding had "fish eyes".

Actually from a germy point of view, a food preparation glove probably had less bacteria than other common items, even the lettuce and vegetables themselves that make up a salad, that are not heated.

If we do NOT have compromised immune systems, most of us do o.k. with germs encountered in the shared world around us, and challenging our immune systems may be a good thing for healthy people.

But a glove or a mouse found in a salad is a deal breaker for most people.

Watch this and remember that flu season is STILL with us.

Army messhall food probably tuned up my immune system. After basic I played in the band. We ate at the same mess hall as the MPs. Guess who were the KPs? The guys in the stockade! I didn't think about what was in my food which I did of course cursorily inspect. I once found the bristle from a broom used to sweep the floor. After living through that eating at Cody's would be a piece of cake.

Although I never felt handling a menu to be a particularly parlous procedure I do routinely go wash my hands after handling one and ordering. My world traveling flight surgeon friend and his wife always bring hand sanitizer and use it. I cannot remember them ever getting sick from a restaurant meal.

I had no idea the menu was laden with germs but it makes perfect sense. :yuck:
Now I will definitely wait until we've ordered from the menu before washing my hands.

P.S. Cody's may not be everyone's restaurant of choice, and the kitchen may well need attention.
However we don't find the peanut shells on the floor to be offensive.

I like Cody's but some of the restaurant managers do seem to act like they have a captive audience so to speak even with all the eateries that go under here. They can usually get more people into their places even with various serious problems. This does look like a real problem if someone leaves gloves in food.

I agree on the shells (and free peanuts) but here is the problem:

Same thing happened at a large major burger/steak chain up north many years ago. Forgot the name (edit: Just Rememberedthe name! The Ground Round!) but they went out of business not long after they removed the free peanuts because someone reportedly slipped, fell and sued.

Every place you go and everything you touch was most likely handled by somebody else and potentially laden with germs.

Yeah the TV remote is a cesspool of filth apparently.

Way back in my younger days I used to work at a restaurant that used the same cleaning cloth used to clean the ashtrays to clean the table. You really can't worry about these things or you just need to stay home and disinfect everything as it comes into your house. You just have to hope your immune system is functioning.

So many ways to say the same thing, you cannot go backwards.

Both you and your wife should get some guidance from a doctor a nutritionist or. Certain things from a restaurant are known to be contaminated. Important ones, most common ones are SALAD and another common, popular dirty problem is leamon or lime in your water.

This is true and the exposure to much of this bacteria helps your body build up an immunity to it and will affect you much less if at all. Everything you touch is gross if you examine it. How about handling money? Yuch.

Just be happy it wasn't a Coney Island Whitefish
