When I request water, I always say, "water, no lemon please". Half the time, maybe more, I get water with lemon. I remove the lemon immediately and if there is any flavor of the lemon, I will request another glass of water with "no lemon, please". They get it right the second time.

I assume most of the items on the menu have a standard configuration and if you want a change you have to ask for it. Water must be one. I use lemon and I would say about half the time I am asked if I want lemon. I never remember to ask for lemon.

So why are you at this restaurant? If you are that worried about that maligned slice of lemon, just imagine what they are doing with your foods. Think of the opportunities they have. Especially if you are rude or a low tipper.

I've never been asked if I want lemon in my water at any restaurant in the villages but I never drink restaurant water either.
