Default Wendy’s

Does anyone know when the Wendy’s in Trailwinds
open?

I haven’t been in a Wendy’s in years.

The very construction and real estate knowledgeable counter person at the gas station next to it said around 4 weeks.

There is one on 441 near Spanish Springs if you need a preview.

I was in the Lady Lake Wendy's about 3 weeks ago, and an employee told me they were in the process of training the new hires to work at the new restaurant to be opened in September. They must be slow learners if it is going to take another 4 weeks to open.

I have not been to a Wendy's in years either. I wonder if this is a trend among Villagers?

Dave Thomas (Wendy’s father) was great at marketing his wendy’s Hamburger chain of restaurants. After his passing, there has been a “lull” but recently a bit of resurgence in Wendy’s. Obviously lots of completion in the fast food business. When still employed, I use to get a good salad and a bowl of chili to eat at my office or on the go and always found the food quite good for fast food. The Wendy’s on 441 is too far for me to go for fast food. This will soon change so perhaps an occasional visit might be in order. Last time I went to Wendy’s (up north) they no longer had a fish sandwich and that was disappointing. Perhaps a local menu item. The frosty (ice cream) might be in order on a hot day.

I went to Wendy's in Palm Harbor, FL once in a while but this was primarily because my nieces Tal and Tar and my nephew Zak sometimes wanted that for dinner on either the Friday or Saturday night they were over to use the pool and sleep over.

Also went to other other fast food places close in Palm Harbor.

Now in the Villages we stick to the Publix deli, Subway, Beef O'Brady's, NYPD Pizzza or other restaurants near CR466.

Really miss The Lucky Dill in Palm Harbor. Home - The Lucky Dill Deli HUGE sandwiches at a good price.

September is only 10 days away. Times flies as we age. Maybe the "the very construction and real estate knowledgeable counter person at the gas station next to it" was off by a couple weeks. Sheesh! Imagine that.

The thing I remember most clearly about The Lucky Dill is how cold it was in there. I once went back out to the car to get a blanket. Florida restaurants all seem to be over A/C'd but I think Lucky Dill was the coldest place we ever ate dinner in.

(We had a winter place in The Landings in Highland Lakes, just off Rt 19 and Nebraska, for several years. We love TV but hubby misses being close to Phillies Spring Training.)

The only fast food place I use these days is Wawa's, just looked @ their website, look @ their employee benefits--they know how to treat their workers/partners

I remember that area of Palm Harbor. I would often take the back road from the Palm Harbor Library on Nebraska to our home off of Alderman so as to avoid 19 which I hated driving on. I volunteered at the Palm Harbor Library from 2000 to 2003 and also at East Lake Community Library about the same time but was in love with the Tarpon Springs Public Library. Really liked their staff and their DVD collection.

Tal Tar and Zac often got Burger King rather than the Lucky Dill or Wendy's.

We lived there from 1996 to 2005 and I would often go back to housesit for a woman and her husband and their two Westies a mother and her son named Chuck and Heather. This was from about 1998 through 2011 or so. They lived in the Hamlet in Bentley Park.

Wendy's is one of the very few fast-food places whose beef is never frozen -- always fresh.

For fast-food chilli, I think they do a pretty good job with it. Also, their salads are pretty good, too. I happen to really enjoy their apple/pecan salad (without the bleu cheese).

Seriously, as fast-food places go, Wendy's is pretty decent.

We aren't talking about or comparing it to a Ruth's Chris or Morton's, you know!

Rarely go to Burger King, McDonalds, Steak and Shake, KFC, etc.

Did go often to Chick-Fil-A as One Blood would often have a Big Red Bus at one of them and you could get a coupon to a free chicken sandwich if you donated at the Bus.

I like Wendy's chili because it is always hot. Unlike most other restaurants that serve it luke warm, even when you specifically ask for it to be hot.

Have you tried PDQ in the Colony Shopping Center for Chicken, etc. (they have number of different choices)?

Everything is freshly made, they make their own sauces, and are open every day, unlike Chick-Fil-A.
