Default Evans Prairie ----GREAT!

We all post when we are not satisfied so it is only fair to post when something is great. Four or us went to Evans Prairie for dinner after golf and asked to be seated outside. After escorting us outside, there were no available tables so the hostess said would you mind a high-top table that are usually only for drinks and she'd send over a waiter. Dean arrived and took the drinks order, came back to apologize for the wait as the bar was backed up. Said he'd put in 2nd drink order as soon as he picked up 1st one so we wouldn't wait next time. Took dinner order. All orders were correct and terrific. I had the citrus pork tenderloin dinner and it was awesome. Others got the steak salad, chicken fettucini alfredo, chicken marsala. All were terrific. Dean was most attentive but not intrusive. Great night, great dinner, great ambience, great company.

Now if they would only do something about the noise level in the inside dining rooms...unbearably loud!!

Its all in relationship to the competition and based on posters comments Evans Prairie gets passing grades as does Lopez. Evergreen is passable but like many of the restaurants here the noise level is distracting. At Evergreen the main distraction seems to be the pullback and forth of chairs on the title floor

As an aside there are people who are more sensitive to noise, crowds etc and hence may be viewed as complainers for no apparent reason but it is in their DNA. I read a book about such individuals. quite interesting. I know, because my daughter bought the book for me as she analyzed my problem to help me. I am the type of person that can plan the party work it, etc but I don't enjoy attending it, the former activity freeing me to focus on task

It's so nice to see so many nice comments on Evan's Prairie. The staff and the managers work very hard to create a wonderful experience for everyone. I just wish that some people would be more understanding to wait times. In peak season all the restaurants are very busy and often have a 45 minute plus wait time. When the hostess greets a patron they are often told of the wait and it is suggested that the accept a First Available status on the list. The First Available simply means you may receive your table earlier and it could be either inside or outside/patio of the restaurant. We all know that on beautiful days the patio areas on any of the country clubs can be filled with no seating. The wait time in peak is often longer for a patio table. Most patrons don't mind the wait because they love the patio and the view. However there are those who accept the First Available or specify the patio and 20 minutes into their wait time quoted begin to get inpatient. All of us employed in the country clubs work very hard to seat the patrons as quickly as possible. What I have experienced lately is people becoming angry about waiting. Again we try to seat all our patrons in a timely manner and adhere to our quoted time frames. In the past few weeks I have been called stupid, sworn at and had menus tossed at me. I love the residents of The Villages but I don't understand this behavior and again it is a select few.

I agree. We've been here 14 years. We know when it's season and you don't want to wait, go a little earlier or take the first available. We like to get to some places a little earlier, put our names in and then go enjoy a drink at the bar. Life is too short to get upset.

You might find you get more bang for your buck if you order a whole meal.

Evans Prairie is great. Think they have very good hamburgers. Also, if you have not had Shepard's Pie there, you should try it. Though it's beef rather then lamb, it comes close to what one might get at a Pub in England.
