I'd like to add Mallory to the list. It can be loud during dinner.

I agree. We ate at the Fenney Grill recently and nearby folks at the bar were so loud we could barely carry on a conversation at all.

Am I the only one who was trying to figure out where the "Denney Grill" is?

Have not been back to Texas Roadhouse since the week after they opened. Noise related.
I could have written this post. I thought Hacienca CC was the worst, and when they had live music, it was unbearable. Then we went to the Texas Roadhouse with about ten of our neighbors, and the noise was so bad I am sure it is intentional. Food was good, but the ambiance was terrible. Haven't been back.

I don’t know if it is for aesthetics or to save money, but most restaurants today have hard floors no real ceilings. The result is no sound deadening at all. The sound just bounces around, people talk a little louder to be heard over it, and before you know it everyone is almost yelling just to be heard over the background. Nicer and smaller restaurants put in carpeting and a ceiling with acoustic tiles to combat this.

A couple years ago, my wife and I were dining at a Country Club restaurant (I won't name it cause we still go there), I remarked that the noise from all the patrons sounded like the noise of birds when they are settling into the trees at dusk. Must be the birds version of happy hour.

We were at the Lighthouse outside. The waitress yelled the menu so loud to the next table that I almost fell off my chair. It took me awhile to realize why.

Next time we bring AirPods to communicate or Bose sound cancelling ear buds.

I would have said Chili’s but I haven’t been to all those other restaurants.
