Default What a shame

we're spending a few months in the NC mountains, and a small town with less than 1000 year round residents has @ least 10 restaurants that put the best restaurants in TV area to shame including the Rose Plantation-its been a reawakening to really good dining--we went to a real Italian restaurant, last night and wee totally amazed,

That is because MOST people who live in The Villages are not wealthy like you are.

Would you say that most entree's are over ten dollars in most of those restaurants?

AND What makes them good to YOU? Are they reminiscent of the kind of food YOU are used to from the area you grew up in? I am guessing you are Italian. I had my first home cooked Italian meal when we moved to The Villages.

I think people in TV choose moderately priced restaurants and dine out more frequently than they did before they retired. High priced restaurants fail because they are simply too expensive for frequent visits for most people who are watching their money.

I really don't get the constant comparisons by you. If you like NC that much, if TV is that lacking to you, why not just move? Maybe the old adage that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all should be applied to the supposed lacks of TV by you?

How many golf courses, pools, and rec centers does Highlands, NC offer their residents?

You have made my point. With salads ten dollars and above and main course twenty dollars and above, not to mention dessert. This is expensive. Perhaps you need to think of relocating there or perhaps West Palm?

Take a look folks. Even if I won the lottery, which isn't likely because I don't buy tickets, would I pay this much except for special occasions;

Spaghetti $21.50, Chicken Picatta $28.00. I think I'm good right here.

Aw, it's OK......

These snooty posts about restaurant food kind of tickle me.......

TOTV is like a stage......

Sometimes we players "strut and fret" -- all those posts....."full of sound and fury" .......

Or to quote Popeye instead of Shakespeare......Popeye said, "I yam what I yam." And regular readers of TOTV know that this OP will be posting about having taken umbrage over something, often food. And there will be a cryptic or tabloidy title on the thread. And then others will try to beat him up. Almost like it is scripted.

It's all theater. "Strutting and fretting" is what happens here. A lot. I know I can do my share. And I well know that "I yam what I yam."

I know that I yam someone who never wants to go out to dinner with people who are always loaded for bear, almost hoping for a reason to complain about the food. Dinner out for me is for conversation, with a side of decent food and good service in a pleasant place where we do not have to put up with big, long tables of screechers and howlers..........But sometimes all I care about for dinner out is having the best onion rings ever -- at Cane Garden.
