Actually, a coddled egg is in most recipes. A coddled egg is similar to a 1 to 2-minute egg; almost raw, but slightly cooked.

Until Julius confirms that we cannot call it a Caesar salad we will continue making it without the raw egg. Than again who puts anchovies in it either.

For that matter have it on cruise ships pretty often and not a sign of a raw egg or anchovy to be found.
