Default Found something I hate here in the Villages

I love driving in my golf cart but these donkeys that need to go 25, 30 or 35 mph passing people causing issues for other following the rules. What is the rush unless they are in a hurry to die. We like to enjoy ourselves and do go 20-21but I don’t understand the rush. The one that had to pass me tonight proceeded to then turn 20 feet down the road.

So how do you deal on the interstate when they're going 80-90 mph??? Some folks aren't necessarily in a hurry, but instead don't wish to waste time in a golf cart on a path.

I could not agree more. I used to juice up my cart but one day decided "what's the rush!" I now have my cart floored all the time and cruse along at 20 (on the flats). Reminds me of my old VW Bus days.

They don't have much time left, so they're in a hurry to do everything they can before the end comes.

Ok so you won’t get mad if I drive you off the path as you start to pass since I can do anything I want.

It is not a waste. As for the interstate this are 3 or 4 lanes designed to be passing. The single lane paths are not designed for it, totally different situation.

23-25mph sure, but I have never watched a cart keep up @ 30-35 unless it was plated. Countless hours for 6 years, carts have never passed a car where we live.

If you don't like the way I drive, then get off the sidewalk.

I'd love to see the cops show up some day and radar these unregistered motor vehicles (carts that can exceed 20mph). They would certainly rake in some dough handing out $250 tickets, and the courts will add to it to the tune of around $500. My cart cannot go faster than the legal speed limit of 20mph, but I get passed all the time by some Yamaha that will do 23mph. There is a reason for the 20mph limit - the brakes, suspension etc of a golf cart is not designed to be safe at speeds faster than this.

I actually paced a golf cart going south along Buena Vista, I noticed my speed was 40MPH and the golf cart was keeping up with me!!!!

I was the same way. I had my Yamaha set to go 25 mph for about five years, and I saw a cop with a radar gun on Bailey's Trail sitting back by the pump station by hole #1 at Allamanda. He was shooting down the cart path, luckily I wasn't speeding. I figured, it's not worth it to get to the course five minutes quicker, and if you have an accident what about your insurance. I dialed the cart back about 3 years ago and it doesn't seem to take any longer to get there.

I did have a Yamaha pass me unlike any I've ever seen on O'Dell while I was en route to Havana about 3 months ago. His wheels stuck out beyond the body about 3" and he was going about 35 mph. He was in the cart lane and the car lane both. When he passed I looked for a tag and he had no tag. Even a street legal is not allowed to go that fast. His engine was very loud, he went by so quick I couldn't get a good look at the cart or the driver.

Well, maybe there was an emergency or he had to go to the bathroom or he remembered he left the heat on on the stove. Maybe consider there was a reason.
