Default Looking for a general dentist

Has anyone had a good experience with a general dentistry dentist in or near The Villages? I have heard so many horror stories, I would really like a solid recommendation. Thanks!

Dr. Jerkins on 441 in Fruitland Park. No upselling. Friendly, competent staff. I'm dental phobic and this office makes me feel comfortable.

I like Dr.Heydari at Aesthetic Dental, on 466A, on the other side of 466A from Publix in Colony. (352) 633-2467 Doesn't try to sell you a lot that is not needed like other dentists here I have gone to or heard about.

I like Dr. Lesh from Southern Trace Dental. After trying several like this one the best. I know many people that are happy with their service and their office.

My husband and I went to Dr. Jerkins and I was not happy. First of all, he is expensive. My husband and I both had the normal X-rays and we had our teeth cleaned. Our joint bill was in mid $400s. After the dental hygientist finished with me, he spent 30 seconds looking at my X-rays and told me I needed to see a periodontist. He was in and out of the room like the Phantom.

He has a large office staff -- at least ten people is my guess, but I'm not sure. Every year he takes his entire staff on a trip. He pays for food, air fare, hotel, etc., regardless of where they go and they have travelled all over the country. Since I'm not invited, I don't want to pay for his annual trips. I guess that's why I feel he overcharges.

I totally agree!
He's less expensive than our previous dentist and his staff is excellent. Panoramic Xrays were $110 ... Much less expensive than our other dentist.
Charlotte is my hygienist who is very gentle and thorough.
It's obvious that Dr. Jerkins takes good care of his employees. It shows!

I am surprised to see the post referring to Dr. Jerkins in a negative manner. Also, I am surprised to see he has a staff of 10? I have never seen more than two people plus one or two hygienists.
I was in the other day for an issue of an aching tooth. After taking an xray of the area, he wasn't sure if it was a bacterial issue from an old filling or an old root canal with problems. He gave me a round of antibiotics, charged me $42 for the visit and xray, and said if it didn't work, I would need to see an endodonist for which he gave me a recommendation. I thought that was a conservative and reasonable approach and fee.

I vote for Village Dental, 3 locations, 4 dentist, excellent team, from the check in desk to the hygienists, I have been happy. Also, the office offers a $55, introduction for new patients, includes all the x rays and dentist consultation. The offer appears in the newspaper, or call the office for more information.

Bonanza, a few of your facts were incorrect. I was there today and questioned them about what you said. His staff is not that large, yes, he does take them on one trip a year, but never an overnight trip, they have not been all over the country. As for your costs, mine were no where near what you stated. Everyone, including the dentist gave me plenty of time. We are very pleased with service and costs at that office.

What you have quoted is a very fair price, but that wasn't the case with my husband and I. If you look at the photos he has on the wall, there is a row of them and each picture shows him with his employees on each of their annual trips. I didn't count them, but I think there are at least ten people in every photo.

If you read my other post, I was only going by the photos on the wall and they do show quite a few people. When I was there I did see five or six staff members -- 2 hygientists, two gals at the desk and a couple of people back and forth back in the hallway (not patients). My incorrect information is only based on what I was told by one of his staff. Perhaps I misunderstood something, but that person clearly told me it was a vacation, not a one day thing. I'm glad that is the case and it makes more sense.

My husband's teeth were cleaned by Charlotte and he was pleased with her cleaning. I don't remember the gal's name who cleaned my teeth, but she only did a fair job for me, and my opinion is based on other cleanings I have had in the past.

The bill my husband and I received was as I stated. I have to tell you that I was shocked when we got that bill. Dr. Jerkins came into the hygientist's room, looked at my x-rays, looked at my teeth and told me I needed to see a periodontist. That was the extent of my exposure to him. He did not give me any kind of explanation for his comments and was pretty much gone in a flash.
