Default Rio Grande - just wondering

My old $5 street map of TV shows that I can get from San Pedro Drive to Rio Grande via Carmel Avenue yet, when I went to do so, Carmel Avenue sports a "No Outlet" sign.

Sure enough, looking at Google Earth, there is no way through, although it looks as though there might have been one some time ago.

Does anyone know if that was the case, or why it was shut off?

Thank you

The residents on Carmel Avenue could answer that question.

Yes.

Looks very odd on Google Earth (2855'37.00"N 8157'15.24"W should you be at a loose end).

There are four villas which have no direct access to a road, but their driveways join up and snake one way to Amaya Ave and the other direction to Almeda Ave.

However, there are two mature trees - one at each end - so that road (if it ever existed) must have been closed for some time.

Look closely and you can see the cart path that passes through a narrow gate. It is a narrow gate, but wide enough for safe passage. I frequently use this path to get to Spanish Springs, Mira Mesa, etc.

Thank you, Deano

Sounds like I'll have to saddle up the old golf cart and go exploring

Has never been open to cars since we have owned on Amaya. Walking and by golf cart are the only ways to get through. It's used quite a bit by that method.

I rerouted my run through there this morning just to check it out. Wider than I expected, but with a fixed gate across. And, indeed, several walkers were using that path.
