If you are having trouble when calling Comcast, go to the store on 441 (near rolling Acres road), take in your existing equipment, and tell them you want Internet only, no TV and no phone. They will keep your DVR/tuner, may swap out your router and tell you the new cost. Then it will be up to you to get either a smart TV or a suitable interface to get the streaming signals you want. I think the connected villagers club has more information on this.

We have had xfinity for the 4 1/2 years we lived here. It works but tired of price increases.

Quantum fiber is in the process of wiring Bonita and expect to go with them and do something else for TV, possibly go back to Dish but not sure.

Do you belong to the VHA? They have in the past put on a great presentation called "Cutting The Cord". Maybe contact your local VHA rep. and ask about it, as it may be recorded and available somehow. There are YouTube videos on the subject too. It was how I got rid of ComCrap and started streaming. Good luck.

If you have smart TV you can stream utube now? You can reduce you Comcast bill by reducing the package you have to less channel package. Basic channels should be less or around $100 month?

I’ve streamed for awhile, couple years or so ago most was not live broadcast, no local stations unless I put up antenna. I had Utube TV for trial period, didn’t like, used Roku. Not I have cheapest Comcast plan for local stations and stream with Roku use Utube free with guess sign in. For me I tried it several ways and for what I wanted to watch it didn’t work out just streaming. I see advertisements streaming with local channels? I just wonder if broadcast live?

I’ve done all three and they all raise rate after 2 years or what ever time limited special you got when signed up with. I got tired or Dish going out every time thunder storm cross its path. I had century link (is that Quantum now?) The Wi-Fi box would go bad about every 3 months or so until the guy installed different one.

See my first post above.
There are several antennas installers in TV. I contacted two of them. Didn't like the first one.

The second one uses the CM-4228HD antenna which has great reviews for long range without being too big. He quoted his standard basic package & said the technician may suggest upgrades when doing the installation. I asked for a taller, stronger antenna mast which some of the neighbors have & he quoted the price before I agreeded on his service.

Ensure both the outdoor antenna coax and the mast sre probably grounded. Many in TV are not. See post #46 in the link below for additional info.
Free television stations available in your TV home.

Do the math. You will save money, but not as much as you may think. I have had Xfinity (not Comcast) for 8 years, and I have always been able to resolve any issues by visiting the store near Best Buy. You can make an appointment online. It is a huge mistake to try to resolve billing or programming issues on the phone. I like the cable boxes because they do not depend on an Internet or wifi signal to watch TV. I would recommend the website, "suppose.tv" where you can get a streaming package price for every channel you want to use. I would also suggest buying a Roku stick to use for streaming instead of using the smart TV features.

Return equipment to Comcast store..take a picture of the equipment at the store, and the return receipt. Because every once in awhile, your return gets lost. It happened to us, up north.

We got a scathing email of $380 due equipment not returned. I emailed the picture of the equipment, return receipt, the guy who was working, in the picture, with Comcast logo.

Not only did I get a very nice apology, they sent a return to us for free, with a $100. Check. That didn’t happen.

Here I actually took my equipment to UPS store they packed it, I still took a pick of equipment, ups copy, with ups logo in the background. Employee strongly stated “do not loose this receipt, make a copy, just in case. Two days later received notification of equipment return, and zero balance account closed.

How much you save depends. If you have more than one home you can save a significant amount of money by cutting the cord and streaming. Comcast will only allow you to use your very expensive subscription at one residence. With a good streaming subscription, you are good to go at multiple locations. We dropped our cable TV service and internet service with Comcast at our northern home that was costing $265 per month. We now have Comcast internet only at both homes (which includes Peacock), subscribe to YouTube TV, Netflix, and Prime, and have high speed internet and streaming at BOTH homes for a combined total of $205. So, not only do we save $60 per month, but now we have high speed internet and streaming at our Villages home as well. I am fully aware that I will be renegotiating the cost of our high speed internet connection with Comcast, at both homes, when our internet contracts expire. I did have to invest in two routers/modems and a few Roku devices to set up the new configuration, but that will pay for itself in short order. It took a little adjustment time to get used to streaming, but now we enjoy it more than cable TV and will never look back.

We had Comcast/Xfinity for quite a few years and when we decided to switch to Spectrum (which has much better customer service) it was a nightmare getting rid of Comcast TV Internet and Phone (which was the absolute hardest to do). They kept billing us for services after we had canceled. Be sure to keep documentation on everything. They even sent our account to collections. We sent the collections company copies of our documentation and told them I would happy to go to court and let a Judge decide. Never heard back from them. Comcast sucks…. Period.

Are you sure about the Xfinity increases? I recently reviewed my November, 2018 Xfinity bill and my November, 2023 bill, 5 years later. I still have 2 TVs, a landline phone, and basically the same channels. My Internet speed has increased from 250 mbps to 1200 mbps. My total bill has gone from about $220 to $240 during that 5 year period, a total increase of about 10 percent, which is less than the inflation rate. During my last contract renewal, the Xfinity representative told me that their policy was to not increase the basic cost for service when a customer renews a contract. Note that there are some charges that are not controlled by Xfinity. Also, some people forget to renew their contract before it expires, and they lose the contract discounts, causing their bill to increase. Specifically, what type of increases did you experience that are different from mine?

We could have gotten a deal 4 1/2 years ago but bill has gone from about $ 100 to 185. Internet speed has gone up but has happy with where it was so no more value to me. Just have basic package for this entire period.
