Default Any Video Gamers Out There?

Come on gang. Even though we're a bit older than the mainstream video game generation, I refuse to believe I'm the only one on ToTV who plays video games. I think it would be great if some of us could find a game to play together and have some ongoing fun!! And for those of us who spend quite a bit of time at home, it's certainly better than just staring passively at a TV screen all day. It's a fun, mind-stimulating activity.

While I would also consider PC games, I particularly like to play on my PlayStation. It's so nice to sit back in my recliner and enjoy myself. No need to be upright in front of a computer screen and use that annoying keyboard.

Anyway, if anybody is interested, please post here. I have a game or two (or more? ) in mind that we could consider. But for now, I'll just see if anybody is interested. If so, post here and we'll make something happen.

I am guessing you are looking for the online multiplayer type games, if so, you might want to clarify. I play several Microsoft single players games, puzzles, solitaire, etc. I am not interested in the online multi player type games.

I play ArmageddonMUD, and Kingdom of Loathing. Neither are "video" games. Armageddon is a roleplay-intensive multiplayer interactive permanent-death all-text MUD (multi-user dungeon) inspired by the Dark Sun campaign of Dungeons and Dragons with a bunch of Dune and Black Company thrown in, and Kingdom of Loathing is a single-shooter silly stick-figure graphic game with tons of puns that lets you raid from other peoples' clans and sometimes there are clan-wars even though it's single-shooter.

I think I still have the original PONG game council from around 1973 kicking around somewhere. I’m not sure it would work on anything other than a black and white tube television?

If you do, these are actually considered collectors items and can be worth some serious cash. As for the TV display, several of my TV sets still have an antenna input for OTA channels, and at least 2 of the sets still search for the older channel RF signals, so these should be able to find the typical channel 3 or 4 signal and display it.
Lets see PONG on a 40 inch flat screen TV, wow!!

I still hope to keep this thread going and have it possibly lead to online gaming among Villagers, so...

Here's kind of a summary of my gaming...past, present, and possible future. I've played Elder Scrolls online on the PlayStation (PS) for a long time and still like it. I've tinkered with Mechwarrior 5 on the PS. I like it too, but haven't played it that much yet. An upcoming game I'm very interested in is New World Aeturnum on the PS5. New World has been around for a while on the PC. But the PS Aeturnum version will be a total port of that game with new stuff. I also play a game named Albion Online (AO). A cool thing about AO is that it is truly cross-platform between PC and handheld devices. You can play a character on the PC, then play it on your iPhone without losing progress made on the PC, and vice-versa. By the way, all these games can be played solo at times other friends aren't online to play. And finally, I am always open to new games to consider.

Come on folks , I know some of you either play or might interested in playing some of these games. Or even games such as word games (Words with Friends 2, et. Al.) or other easy social type games could be considered. Let's hear from you.

I have played video games since stumbling across Space Wars in an arcade back around 1970. I played a LOT of games at the arcades during and after college. I had a Magnavox Odyssey for a bit, then got more into home video gaming with a Texas Instruments 99/4A computer followed by a Commodore 64 (for which I had hundreds of games) followed by DOS-based, then Windows-based PCs. When it got to be too much bother to try to keep games running despite Windows and driver updates, I switched over to an Xbox 360, then Xbox One and now Xbox Series X.

Today, I play a PGA Tour 2K23 and Forza Motorsports quite a lot on my Xbox but play both of them in career modes, not in multi-player modes. Every time I've ever tried to play any kind of game online, I find myself absolutely crushed by young players with insane reflexes who seem to play 24 hours a day. Not so fun. I do play a handful of other games but none with any regularity.

World Of Warplanes , free multi-player PC game. Easy to learn, but much more fun with a joystick. Like you stated just a little fun and excitement 20-30 minutes a day. Also car racing and motorcycle games can be played with a joystick.

Good general chat, gang. But I’m going to propose a specific game…

New World Aeternum is what I’m proposing. It’s cross platform, so we could play together on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation…a big plus. And it’s a brand new game (launch date October 15th). It’s really fun to get in on the launch of a big new game. It’s set in a big open world and can be played solo or with friends at any time. It’s receiving great reviews after it’s open beta.

Come on, gang. Who might be interested? I’m definitely in and least one more member of this thread is also. More players equals more fun. 😁

Let me hear from you. 🙂

I have a PC and have done many games on Board Game Arena (they seem to have hundreds of games). I stay away from games that need reflexes and enjoy games that involve strategy. Video games I have enjoyed include Civilization, Strategic Mind, Master of Orion, Rome: Total War, X-COM, and Xenonauts.

I do play video games, but usually only when I am waiting for something.
