I know a guy who was widowed and move to another retirement community (Sun City West, AZ). He had enjoyed being married and wanted to be married again but wanted a certain kind of woman. Since he was a very organized guy, he created a list of about twenty attributes he was looking for in a potential wife. The second or third day he was there, he was out on a bike ride and got talking with a lady who was also riding her bike. They had coffee, started dating and, once he realized she score about 19 out of 20, he got serious with her and eventually married her.

The lady was my widowed mother-in-law (who had no intention of even looking for a second husband). They've been married for nearly 20 years now and are still tickled pink by each other and enjoy every day together. You can joke about qualities of a potential mate, but if you're serious about wanting to spend the rest of your life with someone, making a serious list of those qualities isn't a half-bad idea!

These folks are very fortunate indeed. i agree on the list of attributes required or at least desired. I have such a list.

I also agree with what Chax3 posted. The mental and physical chemistry has to be there. Those are givens.

Anyone who saw "A Bronx Tale," the 1993 movie about a kid growing up in the rough-and-tumble 1960s Bronx, probably remembers the "door test."

The "door test," explains gangster Sonny (Chazz Palminteri) to the kid as he prepares to go on a first date, is how you determine whether a girl is a keeper. After opening the car door for your date to climb into the passenger seat, Sonny tells the kid, walk around behind the car and peer through the rear windshield to see if she leans over to unlock the driver's side door for you.

I guess if she leans over to lift up the flap that's how you do it here.

Isn't it harder for them to isolate their prey and move in for the kill that way? And then what---do they share the spoils of the hunt?

a woman friend recently berated me when i mentioned how i missed rubbing the feet of my significant other after lunch every day. he had his own business and would come in for lunch each day and then we would watch a little tv while he relaxed on the sofa and i really did love to rub his tired, hard working feet! she said she would never rub her husband's feet! i think it is a loving thing to do. :)

and i did see A Bronx Tale and do remember the test! :)
