Move here, you'll love it. Moved here 21 years ago at age 47. Never had a problem with finding people my age. Move in age here keeps getting younger and younger. My neighborhood north of 466 is quickly changing with original purchasers leaving for assisted living or moving to be with kids and younger people in their 50s and early 60s moving in, so you'll find people your age everywhere. I used to live in LA. This is 1000 times better. Come on a visit for a few weeks, rent a golf cart, drive all around and ask everyone you meet how they like it here and if they would do it again. You'll find that the majority will say yes they would, but should have done it earlier when they were younger. Hope to see you here soon. You'll love it.

Vince, I moved to The Villages from Thousand Oaks about 2 years ago and love it. Some noticeable differences you have to travel about an hour for things you are accustomed to such as COSTCO, restaurant variety, etc. Also, the weather is much different especially if you plan on living here full time.

I believe the club you will be interested is called South of 60. I'm in my 50's and loving TV.
|
I moved here with my husband when I was 51 years old. I'm now 73 and I love it here as much if not more than when I first moved to The Villages. Do the lifestyle package and then maybe rent for a couple of months to make sure. If you golf you'll be in 7th heaven. By the way, there are over 3000 clubs and I'm sure you will find many that are what you want. Come visit, you'll love it!

South of 44 is where the “younger” people seem to be but you’ll definitely be one of the youngest ones. That’s how I feel anyway. I never did a lifestyle visit but did stay in an airbnb north of 44 and bought new south of 44. They have a really different vibe. Good luck! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it here. I’ve only encountered rude people on this site. Never in person anywhere out and about. It’s easy to meet people. |

Good neighbors are nice
But those with whom you share activities will most likely become your closest friends.
QUOTE=mtdjed;2129393]I moved here when I was 62 and into a neighborhood of like aged persons. I had commented to my real estate agent that the "New Area" didn't look as mature as some of the older areas. His comment was that "mature areas" equal mature people. What that means is that people older than you with different interests and abilities. So, what I would suggest is an area that is closest to your age and interests. Recall that birds of a feather flock together.[/QUOTE] |

How old, who cares...
The discussion of “Younger versus Older” retirees within a retirement community is very illogical in my opinion. When someone is of age to live in a 55+ community such as TV does age really matter that much? At his stage of one’s life maximizing enjoyment should be first on the list. As a single female in her early 60’s I have no issues dating a man in his 50’s or 70’s, if you enjoy someone’s company, age should be a non-factor.

Thank you for the input. There is a lot of misinformation about TV and in doing my research I've found many answers, and more questions.

I'm from southern Orange County. Moved here following a bunch of neighbors that are all very active in sports and activities. In the new areas you will find people even in their 40s that have retired. On my block the average age looks to be younger than the northern Spanish Springs area since we are in the new homes.

When people pass on, or move to different facilities, they are typically replaced by younger people... It happens in my neighborhood up North and it happens in TV... |

Absolutely tons people your age and single . I’m single and did the same research etc. Did Life Style visit and everyone is happy to answer questions and you’ll find TV is very friendly . Everyone experienced same things moving here and hundreds of people from California ! I’d recommend if you love biking, nature, baseball, astronomy, wood working, air gun, archery, swimming, younger population buy South of 44. I watched a lot of Jerry and Linda the Newcomers and Rusty Nelson on YouTube.

Hi Vince.... I moved here two years ago next March. I am your age and I have found that it is a BIG challenge to meet singles our age here and date. The VAST majority are older than us. Don't discount them though, their spunky and some run circles around many 30 year olds. However, I understand and it's not easy at all unless you're interested in attractive older women or Central Florida Locals. I have recently notice a few more of us than I have in the past so maybe the next wave is upon us and WE will be the aged majority at some point in the future. Theres so much here though that change is for certain. Best of Luck!

Yes you can find 'young clubs" in TV, but please also be open-minded to get along with people of all ages.
