Jim here. Just moved here two weeks ago from Kansas. I am originally from New Jersey. Retired after 41 years in banking. Like to play tennis, and just started playing Pickleball. Love oldies music. Was married 40 years, but my wife passed away two years ago, so I'm starting anew here at the Villages. Would like to meet more people.

I also play some pickleball and golf, if that is what you want to call them. I will be a snowbird for a few years until I decide to sell the house in New York State. The longest time I have ever stayed in my villa is 10 days. Looking forward to spending the winter in sunshine! I will be arriving in late fall and am looking forward to the next chapter in my book of life. Hope to meet some of you soon.

I'm finally in The Villages! I arrived on Wednesday and have been slowly unpacking and running errands. I said slowly because the day before I left to travel down, I stubbed my toe in the middle of the night and broke it! :22yikes: I guess I was still half asleep because I didn't realize it was broken until morning! This is really putting a damper of my desire to be playing golf, pickleball, and going for my 2+ mile walks. I sure hope it heals quickly! So far, it is feeling a little better every day.

It still has not hit me that I will be here for at least the next six months. I hope I don't have a meltdown when I realize that I am not at my villa for one of my short vacations. I am sure I will adapt just fine, but you never know. I hope I will be able to meet many of you who post frequently.

Time to do a bit more unpacking.

Darn! Karen, I'd like to talk sometime if you want to give me your number. It's nuts to break a toe. I'm well experienced at that. We need to have a get together. there are at least 3 new singles here!
Kitty
ps moving is hard, harder single, whiplash to get here. glad you came.

Hey Gang!
I am so enjoying you guys! This way of meeting people is tops...took my houseguest to Katie Belle's oct 31 and there are several single friends dressed for the occasion and jumping around on the dance floor having an easy time, being friends.
Friday there was polo and four of us went for the first time. We all loved it! I won a bet and lost one...

We have a few new people in the singles community whom we MUST get to know, and I can't wait! So what shall we do...? anybody want to throw down an idea for lunch or dinner that we can invite the new people to? There's Karen and Jim and Ginny...
and Keelie, who ALMOST met us at the Halloween R&R party...

karen's toe story reminds me of packing up the rental truck to move here, i got the metal bed frame jammed between my big toe and the others and i was limping around for quite a while! must be a good luck charm because i have been very happy here!
why don't we do another sit down at the LSL front porch one evening. weather is cool, costs nothing and one can have a conversation without screaming! i vote for 7pm wed night if anyone responds :) then those who want to can go dancing or whatever afterwards!

Hi, My name is Christina, I bought my house in Collier in September, I am single and have been for quite some time. I won't retire, however, for another year, so for now my house is rented until I can get there next year some time. I am coming down for a week in December (8 - 15) for a visit with my 83 year old mom. Would love to stop by and say hello and meet everyone if there are any get-togethers planned during that week. I'll keep checking this thread, just in case.

Kitty and chachacha are the social ringleaders. You can PM them if you want to meet some singles.

Hey Kitty, I wonder who you lost the bet too. :icon_wink:

A good time was had by all who went to the Polo Ponnies game. The sky was cloudy and it was a pleasent afternoon to be sitting outside. The second match was very and close but the Raiders won.

I'm all for meeting Wednesday night. Help me out here--Lake Sumter Landing front porch? Where exactly is this?

I hope there are others that are willing to meet. I don't want to be there by myself!

chachacha 11-03-2013 02:28 PM

some of us are going to a dance tonight (sunday nov 3) at the american legion, doors open around six, $10 at door, small buffet, must buy beverages from the legion, located at corner of 466 and rolling acres road...i am going to dress up! :) but not necessary. look for a group of singles having fun! :)

Lake Sumter Landing is the middle town square and the porch is on the front of the big sales office. comfy chairs and sofas. i will commit to meeting you there at seven and hopefully some others will join us.

chachacha 11-03-2013 02:33 PM

another important upcoming activity is Thanksgiving....our friend Larry has so kindly offered his home for a get together...his table can seat 14 for a sit down dinner and if we have a few more, am sure we can make due....please pm (private message) Larry at Enjoy The Villages if you have no plans for this important day. I will be there and at least four others so far, so let us know! ronnie is making a turkey, i am making candied sweet potatoes, ken is bringing the pumpkin pies, so pick something you can bring and get a place at the table! yum yum yum!

RETIREDSFW 11-03-2013 07:47 PM

The polo was a hoot, Joe! I lost the bet with you, so I'll buy for the next polo match with you! I bet Larry on the opposite team for the same match and won that one. Looks like to me I won two bets on the same game..I get two more matches and good company.
