Default Question about social life

I'm a 58 year old widower. I am looking into moving to the Villages after retirement in a couple of years.

I am wondering about opportunities to socialize. Are there organized singles events? It is a good environment to meet members of the opposite sex?

Where I live now it is difficult to meet people and I'm not comfortable meeting people online.

I'm sorry to hear that you were widowed at such a young age. Singles of baby boomer age are extremely active here, at least when rec center activities are allowed to reopen. When you move here, finding other singles will be no problem at all.

Lots more single women than men.

Take care of yourself, dress well, bathe often and you will have to beat them off with a .stick,

And there are lots of clubs and stuff for singles

Why not look at profiles from Villages zip codes on various dating websites, including the over 50 ones, to find who might be available if you wish to date.

My experience as a single man was it was unbelievably easy to engage with everyone, both married and single. I literally could walk into a crowded restaurant with no open tables and people would invite me to sit down at their table. The Villages, like most retirement communities, is an easy place to meet and befriend new people. Literally everyone is from somewhere else and wants to make new friends. As others have mentioned there are some singles clubs. OP, you will be amazed so come on down!

Maybe Mr. Midnight, if he is still going strong, could show the OP the ropes although Katie Belle's is no more. I loved that place!

I am a single (divorced) woman in her late 50’s already retired and living in TV for about 3 months so far. I decided to rent for a year before purchasing so I am still a newbie however I did my research before moving and found there are MANY options available as a resident of TV to meet quality people, no need to do the online garbage. It is the vast variety of options that was the main decision factor on why I chose TV over other 55+ communities.

Although COVID-19 has changed things for now, I anticipate in a year or less for all TV activities and social gathering scheduling to return to their pre-COVID state.

I agree single life can be very satisfying here. I’m a social person but not much for groups , but’s easy to meet nice woman here especially if you can still see your shoes and trim your nose and ears

Someone started a sign up sheet in my neighborhood and so far 17 widows have signed up to meet you and cook dinner.
